Question:
Type of robe/gown, which is best for hospital stay?
I've never stayed in the hospital for long periods of time, but the time I did stay I had IV's and such in my arms, I assume the same will apply w/ this surgery. So, What type of gown/robe is easiest to get on & off? A pull over, zip, button, tie, etc? — BECKY M. (posted on March 29, 2000)

Becky, IMHO the best type of gown/robe is the one they give you in the
hospital. I checked ahead of time and made sure they had large hospital
gowns -- and there were plenty. Your incision will be draining. You may
have a drainage tube in. Save your pretty stuff. Wear the hospital
clothes -- they are the most comfortable and you won't care about staining
them. I bought a new robe and slippers and never even put them on (OK the
day I was being discharged and sashayed down the hall to impress everyone
with my pretty pink robe, but that was it!!!LOL). The hospital gown is the
easiest to get on and off around all the IV's, and (provided its the larger
size) it gives full coverage when you are walking around dragging your IV
stand.

Hi Becky, I agree with Toni and Sandy. What with I V.s and drainage, and
just the way you feel, It is so much easier to go with the hospital gown.
BTc had extra large everything and believe me they were big enough to wrap
around and tie and cover all. I was just glad I brought my own soft
pillows, and easy to get on slippers with treads. The hospital provided
everything else I needed. re: shampoos, chapstick, soap , toothpaste, you
know all of that stuff. And I didn't have a lot of baggage to worry about.
You will be sleeping, (good pain meds), walking, walking, walking, and
eating ice chips and sipping. Unless you are super woman, you really won't
care about all the other stuff. I started taking showers the second day.
Even with IV in, and I was happy for those hospital gowns. You will do
just fine Beck , don't worry, we are all routing for you.
