Question:
Where to get my Iron
Can anyone tell me if their are differences in iron tablets. My doc prescribed them for me and right now I am sending for them along with my Celebration Vitamins. It' all comes to about $60+ when I order. Where else can I buy the iron and is there a difference in it? — katiecakes (posted on February 13, 2010)

Are you allowed to swallow pills yet? If you are, I take Slow Fe, make
sure you take your iron with Vitamin C too. You buy that at CVS or
Walgreens. This one supposedly doesn't make you constipated, I suffer with
that all the time.

At my 2 year post-op I was low on iron so they prescribed Vitron C, you can
get it at Walgreens. I did have to order it in at mine, it came in a day
and it's about $9 per bottle. It's iron and vitamin C together. It works
great with little side effects...such as constipation. Good luck! Cheryl

I just asked my dietitian about this. She said to take iron with c at
bedtime on an empty stomach if possible. No slow fe as it is time released
and we don't have the time..lol it passes too wuickly thru our new systems
that have shorter intestinal absorbtion now and no stomach to dissolve it
in. Any iron is ok, but sulfate may cause gas. But I used it ok. Take 2-3
hours after calcium and 2 hours before a calcium suppliment. Calcium blocks
the absorbtion of many vitamins and some meds. I got some iron tablets at
walmart..were very cheap for 100 pills. Best of luck ! hugs, n God
