Question:
4 years out and gaining
I am 4 years post-op. After a 200 lb loss, which I maintained for 2 years, I have gained 25 lbs., seemingly overnight. I have increased my walking from 2 miles/day during the week to 3 miles/day (outside, no treadmill)and whatever I can do in my living room of an evening. I am not eating anymore than in the past; I have been keeping a food log. I don't see my doctor like I should. My surgeon left the state and I don't feel that my primary care physician understands, as I am a new patient to him, too. Any suggestions? — ptacres (posted on January 24, 2010)

Brenda have you now gone through menopause? If so, you might want to have
your hormone levels checked. Low estrogen and affect your thyroid which
can affect your wt lose. I am 9 1/2 year out from my surgery and started
gaining after I had my ovaries removed. Went to see my OB/GYN this week
and he has started me on HRT - praying it helps.

I am also 4 years post op and am having a revision next tuesday. I gained
30 pounds, like you said, overnight. After an endoscopy, we found that my
pouch is extremely distended (it was never the proper size to begin with)
and food moves too rapidly from the pouch to the intestines. I found a new
surgeon and he is fixing everything for me next week!
Good luck with your issues, I suggest finding a new surgeon as well and
perhaps having the endoscopy. There might be something going on in there
that you don't know about!

Try running. Couch to 5k worked for me. This tool that we have RNY is only
good for 2-4 years and then we are back where we started from, having to
diet like everyone else. Except this time our bodies are used to eating
very little and it harder. So cutting back on eating alone is not going to
help. Run, Run Run.
