I have not had it myself, but have taken care of people who have had it. I
am sorry to hear that you have it. Hope the doc has given you something
for it. Hopefully it will be over soon. Remember to keep sipping your
liquids so that you don't get dehydrated!!
Good luck

Do a search in the question and answer section. Someone recently asked
this question. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I hope for a
speedy recovery. I'm sorry I can't help more other than providing support
since I have never had C-Diff but hear from others it's a nightmare. Take
care of yourself.

Had it twice - in October and November last year. Not a pleasant thing.
Try to drink as much as you can so you won't get dehydrated. What type of
antibiotics are you on? I started with the flagyl in October but ended up
getting C-diff again the next month (this is quite common)so doc figured I
was resistant to the flagyl and the next commonly used drug - vancomycin so
we went right for the heavy hitter - Xyfaxan. Wonderful stuff. Stopped
the diarreah almost immediately. Little rough on my pouch but hey, that's
what they make antacids for, right? I'm ok now. I just hate the feeling
that if I have diarreah more than 3 days in a row, I need to call the
infectious disease doc for testing. I found the infectious disease doc to
be more helpful dealing with C-diff than my regular gastro doc. Feel
better soon. Kathy

Sorry, I just thought of a few more things.......
C-diff is contagious. Here's what my doc said to do:
get some Clorox wipes and wipe the toilet seat after every use. Dispose of
the wipes in the trash and keep your trash empty. Do not use towels to dry
your hands - use paper towels, as they are disposable. And of course, the
usual - do not share utensils, glasses - anything. Use a clean bath towel
for every shower and wash in hot water, with bleach if possible. Doc told
me that this is very prevalent in hospitals and the only effective tool is
bleach. Regular disinfectants don't do the trick. Hope this helps.

Yes! I had surgery 3 years ago and had C-Diff after surgery. C-diff occurs
in 2 ways. 1. It is a nosiocomal infection (meaning hospital acquired) or
2. You may have taken antibiotics prior to surgery which reduced the number
of good bacteria in your intestines.
After surgery I felt fine for the first 4 days. AFter that everything went
down hill. I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, and literally lived on the
toilet. My doctor thought I was just dehydrated but I had C-diff. Good
thing for me I did some homework and suggested to him that I might have it.
He put me on Flagyl and it took care of that! Let me know if you have any
other questions. Happy to help
