Question:
Has anyone had acne issues after gastric bypass?
I am 5 months post-op and just started getting really bad acne on my face, neck and chest. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if it may be related to hormone changes? Thank you for your input! — darrelsplace (posted on November 26, 2008)

I was told by my doctor that because your body is changing so quickly that
it does throw your hormones off also and that you may get acne.

I developed bad rosacia on my face after surgery, it is 1 year later and I
am still struggling with it.

Yes I have acne awful now. 4.5 months post-op. Hopefully it gets better.

Yes -- also got acne rosacea within a couple months of surgery. Don't know
if my not-quite-in-menopause age has something to do with it.

After I lost almost 100 pounds I started breaking out a lot. I attributed
it to hormones as well as just the over 40 acne that women can get. I make
a big attempt of washing my face every night and using moisturizer and I
know that anything with salicylic acid works the best to combat acne. I
use Avon products...have all my life...and have good luck with the
moisturizers....but I will recommend the Neutrogena Acne products for spot
treating acne. They have a great new product out called "Rapid
Clear" 2-in-1 Fight and Fade Gel. It's a tiny tube and is kind of
spendy for the size, $8, but it goes a long way. It gets rid of the acne
as well as fades the redness of previous blemishes. I am really loving it
right now.
I hope this helps. If your acne is very severe, you may want to consult a
dermotologist. It might help to have someone set up a regimen for you.
Best Wishes! Hugs...Cheryl

I'm also having break outs and never, even in teenage years had blemishes.
I'm 2 months out. You would think as much water as we are drinking our
skin would be looking great....grrrr
