Question:
What is a good tasting liquid vitamin/mineral supplements?
I'm planning to start taking liquid vitamins supplements if they taste okay. Anyone know what vitamin/minerals come in liquid form? — Toby2 (posted on September 3, 2008)

In my 28 months as a post op, I've tried 3 liquid vitamins, all of which
tasted OK. But there are many out there that can taste horrible. The first
one was $60 a month, and started with a V. Though it to be too pricey, and
checked around. Found 2 others with similar high vitamin levels--much
higher than the V brand--yet costing about $1 a day ($20 a month plus
shipping). One of these tastes like an orange punch, and the other one
tastes like an apple cider (this one has 2 grams of protein too). Brands
and sources are on my profile page. DAVE

Hi Nevalle!
I am 7 weeks post op and I have been taking VM-100 made by Buried
Treasures. You can buy it on Vitacost.com. It is a liquid vitamin/mineral
that has a citrus taste to it. It is packed with all the B vitamins and has
a huge amount of B-12 in it which we need and calcium. It has about 20-30
different vitamins and 10 or so minerals. It is great. I hate taking pills
and showed it to my doctor and he approved it. I have so much energy when I
take it. I put 2 tablespoons in about 3-4 ounces of no sugar added juice
like orange juice and I can't taste it to much. I hope you try it. I love
it. If you have any more question regarding it or you cant find it on
Vitacost.com just let me know and I will help you out. Good Luck!

A good "liquid" vitamin / mineral supplement is VEMMA. Has 12
essential vitamins in a powerful antioxidant base of mangosteen juice. Has
1000 IU of vit. D3, the proper way to quote quantity. Contains over 65
major trace and ultra-trace ionic minerals. Also contains "aloe
vera" and "green tea". Go to www.TrySomeVemma.com
Remember, you get what you pay for. Taste great, like orange

If you can handle the flavor of liquid vits or anykind (which if they have
a good variety of vits) will always taste vitaminy! LOL Yucky! It's
usuually the B vits and iron that taste so awful and look soooooo yellow.
But those are some good vits to have! Liquid is a great way to go...Then
just keep an eye on labs and make sure they do a good range of vitamin
tests every year...Don't wait til you are deficient in one or two before
yoou supplement...Watch your levels and if they drop you can buy a supp of
that vit...Til then, just take the liquid and B-12 (shots or sublingual or
spray) and Calcium Citrate with D3 and hopefully magnesium and Iron( if
you are still menstruating) Those are the ones you must supplement in
addition to a multivit since they are the most common defiencies for RNYers
and even non-wls people who have low stomach acid like us...All of these
vits MUST have adequate stomach acid to absorb...And there is not enough in
a regualr vit without additional supplementation, USUALLY...I used GNC
liqid vits and then they stopped selling the one I liked...So I chew my
centrum adults...The centrum liquid is just too expensive with all my supps
that I just stick to my trusty chewables and they travel sooooo much easier
in a baggie than that liquid! LOL

I am not restricted to liquid vitamins/minerals, but I believe they absorb
better - certainly better than the usual hard little pill things that go
right through people. My vitamin/mineral supplements are all in gel caps
and have digestive enzymes in them. I can toss them into my breakfast shake
if I want and I don't taste them at all.

I was told you can also take Flintstone gummy vitamins. Check with your
doctor first.

Walgreens recently started selling a bariatric-specific vitamin/mineral
formula called OPTISOURCE. They are citrus-flavored chewable tabs - you
chew one four times daily. They are not too bad. About $27 for qty 120
(lasts 1 month). Their only drawback is that they are made with calcium
CARBONATE. I try to avoid carbonate and use calcium CITRATE. Calcium
carbonate is well known to increase your risk for kidney stones. Good luck.

I haven't had surgery yet, but I use Market America products and I have
corresponded to others that have had WLS that take MA's products. You can
email me for more info. They are isotonic, so they absorb faster because
they are PH ready, which means no pill to have to breakdown. --jenks621
