Hi,
I had my Lapscop. RNY on my 62nd birthday. Have lost nearly 120 lbs in 6
months. Read my site and they drop me a line and I will be glad to address
your questions. Hard trip for thye first 6 weeks for me, but worth it. I
no longer have High Blood Pressure or Colestroal, or typew II Diabities. I
posted before and after pictures on my blog as well. You can get a good
idea if you read it from the beginning last December.
Best of sucess to you!
Bill

Darlene, I will be 63 in July. I had type II diabetes, high cholesterol,
high blood pressure, Sleep Apnea, and arthritis. I had RNY on 5/27. Went
home without insulin, on glucophage for a little while. Arthritis is
already better in my kneees. The others will be checked in 3 months but I
fully expect them to be gone at that time. I have had no problems, pain or
complications from surgery. I wish you the same fortunate results. Lyn

I had my lap RNY surgery April 07 at age 69. i am now at goal weight, size
12 and feel like a milliom dollars. When I look in the mirror I can't
believe the face and body belong together. What a great feeling. The
mirror has become my good friend. The weight loss was slow at first but the
inches just fell off. I couldn't be happier.

Had open RNY last September at age 62. Have lost 105 lbs. Only negative
comment I have is all of the sagging skin, but I live in the Seattle area,
so don't have to show off my arms too often, and don't care if my
"girls" are a little low.

If you have lung problems they may want to do a trach.

Please make sure they do all the appropriate tests before hand. My ex
mother inlaw wa 62 had gastric bypass and the dr who did the surgery didnt
do simple chest xrays and she had cancer. When they opened her up to do the
surgery the cancer spread like wildfire and she lived for 2 weeks. It was
awful.

Hi Darlene - I had the Lap RNY in February 2008 and have lost 64 pounds so
far. I'm 61 and am now off my blood pressure medicine, my diabeties
medicine is half of what it was and I believe I will be off of everything
before too long. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I
would do it again in a heartbeat. Just research and get the best surgeon
and do what they tell you to do. This isn't easy but it works!
