That is wonderful you have lost so much weight congrats!!! Viactive Chews taste good and they have vitamin D. Look on the internet for sources of vitamin D. I am sure you will find lots of things. How tall are you and how much do you think you should weigh?

I too suffered from low Vitamin D on 3 consecutive blood tests after RNY surgery. For exercise, I did daily walking, which increased my frustration about low vitamin D. I'm surprised your doctor did not prescribe a prescription vitamin D. My doctor placed me on a course of 12 weeks of 50,000 IU of vitamin D--this consists of one gel cap taken per week. I repeated this course of additional D 3 times, all with result of low vitamin D levels. I also tried a liquid vitamin D supplement in my shakes daily. I was initially taking an expensive liquid Vitamin (Vemma), then chewable. After the 3rd test failure, I did some research to resolve this problem.. I examined several alternatives, and finally decided on a new liquid vitamin I heard about. My weight had plateaud at 222 for several months. Although I was happy at this weight, I still had the vitamin D in extremely low levels. I decided to try this new liquid vitamin, and it's cost was 1/3 of the previous liquid I had tried. I compared the supplemental facts very closely, deciding the new vitamin had higher levels of every vitamin, even though the cost was less. I used it for 2 months, and had another blood test. Without doing anything different, I finally passed the Vitamin D test, scoring in the low normal range. All previous tests were very low in Vitamin D--in the area I call the "toilet range". Another bonus is that my weight slowly came down further. I've taken this vitamin since late September, 2007, and my weight has now lessened from 222 to 204. The new vitamin also had high levels of antioxidants which may account for the additional weight loss. I've shared this experience with many at my 3 monthly support group meetings. You can read my web site about this vitamin at www.bariatricliquidvitamins.com . This worked to finally resolve my low vitamin D tests that had gone on for almost one year. DAVE

Great weight loss -- congratulations. I'm 11 months and down 100. Our bodies have to adjust to the changes so just keep working out and do what you're doing. As far as Vitamin D, I'd say purchase just the vitamin D and take 2 of them. That may help your Vitamin D deficiency. Although Vitamin D is in my multi-vitamin I take one or two every other day at night after dinner.

Great job! Your doc can give you an Rx for vitamin D or you can order caps through Bariatric Advantage. Also, be sure to include calcium rich foods in your diet and try to get 30 minutes of sunshine per day. Keep us the good work. Donna 286/130

Yvette, be patient with your body. Celebrate that you lost 107 pounds and let your body rest for your brains sake. That doesn't mean stop exercise, diet or drinking water, it means give your brain a break and assume you need to stay at 168 for a few months. That way if you lose weight, you can rejoice, but if you don't you won't get worried. I had lost all that I thought I was able to, and several months later I lost another 10 - 15 pounds with no effort at all. It happens, but you just have to be patient. You have much to celebrate, so don't look at this as over, just a pause. For some it can be 6 months to a year before they budge again, but if you are consistent in your diet, exercise and water, you will get where you want to be. Also, you need to allow a "skin" charge for weight. Let me give you an example. I weigh 135 pounds, but if I had all my skin removed that is sagging, I think I would weigh about 120 pounds because I sport a size 6 with no problem. So in my brain, I allow myself to think that I am 120 pounds, even though the scale says 135. This helps me know I really did reach my goal, even though my skin is in the way. It is just adjusting your thoughts to help get rid of stupid anxiety about things that produce more food issues (for me). It helps me, and I think accurate. Be patient, and give yourself a skin charge. Take care. Patricia P.

It's probably a plautea, just keep doing what you've done all along and maybe add some more protien to your diet. But this is a good thing it give your body time to catchup with the weight loss. I'm in the same boat as you and know it will start again when my body is ready. Hugs, Joni

Congradulations on your weight loss! You have done great! I would not worry that you have not lost anything this past month. I didn't lose any weight in the month of December. Then this month I lost 9lbs. I've gone two months not losing any weight. I think other people are right, you are going to hit pleatues. Good luck!

Hi Yvette and CONGRATULATIONS!! That is awesome weight lost!! I'm 8 months out and down 86 lbs. Like you I have not lost any weight in the last month either. I'm frustrated also. But you have lost 107 lbs. That is great! I'm exercising and eating pretty good, but nothing lately. Hopefully we will get back on the loosing side soon. As far as the vit d, I have not had a blood test for that. I'm going to ask my doctor next week about that. Take care and let me know of any good advice you get! Carmen

I'm almost 4 yrs RNY post op, and over the last 2 yrs, my Vit D levels have always been very low. The only pill "we" can absorb is Dry D. I now take BioTech D3-50, 50,000iu, 3 times a day, which always work to increase the Vit D. I get it from Vitalady. Good luck!
