Many people has some difficulty in learning to swallow foods past surgery. This can mean taking your supplemental vitamins, calcium, or other pills can be difficult. I had a minor problem with swallowing larger pill supplements, so I sought out a liquid vitamin to eliminate part of this problem. I initially used one liquid vitamin, but it's $60 price per month was not cheap. I discovered a liquid vitmain that has no sugars, no carbs, no calories, and is all natural. It just got Kosher Certification also. It tastes like an orange punch too. This may eliminate part of your problem. More details on this vitamin are on my area, ragdolldude. You need to find some foods you can tolerate, to get your digestive system working properly. You may need to speak to your doctor or another professional about the way think about food. I know I stopped stoking with one session of a hypnotist. You need to eat.

hear ya. been there :( i had surgery 11-26-07 and i still have a huge problem with food. i am down 42 lbs. i cant get off my whatever it is; still staying with soft food. you need to eat. even if it is cream of wheat. you will do more damage if you dont. guessing alot of us have been where you are, and it is easier said than done. we know. but sweetie you have got to EAT. and the meds, i found that if i put my meds in yogurt i cant even taste it. i too have capsules that i just open and pour into my yogurt and woW cant even tell. if you keep having this problem not eating, call your phy. you need to let them no. this surgery wasent made NOT to eat but to control how we eat.... i know you can do it. my tummy is still sore too. it will get better, or that is what they tell me :) keep the faith. i dont remember ANYONE telling me this was going to be easy. i have faith.. get answers get help. wish you the best. and congrats on your w/l surgery......kim

I know it was hard for me when I first had surgery, but being 4 months out myself I don't really have those problems anymore. Maybe every once in a while. If you are 4 months out and don't feel you can eat, you might want to talk to your doc about that. What type of procedure did you have? They may want to do some checking and make sure everything is working properly. Good luck!

When you say your stomach hurts do you feel nauseaous or other type of pain? If it is the first, I had the same problem in my 3rd or 4th month. Gas X became my friend every day during that month. I often had to take the recomended each day. You do get over it though. If it's the other type of hurt, then speak to your surgeon asap. It's not good that you don't eat. You could become severly mal-nutritioned and end up in the ER. Good luck and God bless!

No help from me; only a similar story. I'm nearly three months out and can't tolerate food. I take 84gm of liquid protein a day (IDS New-Whey), chewable vitamins and a sublingual B12. I prepare juices, soda, etc., with lots of ice and chew on the cubes. I'm dropping weight at the rate of 5 pounds a week. My energy level isn't great but it isn't terrible either. Bottom line: I was morbidly obese and wanted to lose weight so I could enjoy my life a little better. Regardless of the nuisances I hadn't expected, I'm a happy camper.

I had the same problem, but mine was mostly due to extreme nausea. I am 2.5 years out and was sick my entire first year. I had to be readmitted to the hospital twice. What finally helped bring me out of some of it was a couple of antidepressents, and phenergan around the clock. One of the antidepressents was known to cause increase in appetitie and the other one was one for me to take long term. It took me a few weeks to start feeling better, but eventually I did start eating again. Unfortualy, the only time I lost any weight, was when I was extremely sick...otherwise I stay the same or gain a little. My stomach hurt all of the time. I did find a herb called passion flower that really helps to relieve my stomach without making me sleeping or causing any ill effects. I do still take one of the anitdepresents. My stomach pains got better, but even at over 2 years out, I still have pains and nausea on occasions. I am able to eat most anything now, except for ice cream, the sugar and lactose combination kills me. You are welcome to contact me if you like. Good luck to you.
