I took out my insurance for this reason also, the very day it started, I
made an appt. with the surgeon. Once you have insurance, you don't have to
wait to use it, it is yours from the moment you can use it (unless there is
some stipulation in your policy...check with them). Of course I had to
change surgeons...not because of the insurance but I was set up for surgery
3 months later. Good luck to you and make that appointment, smile.

Hi..I am a director of a small group health insurance company and a weight
loss patient. As in the above answer, you can set up an appointment the
day after the coverage is effective and the insurance company can't do a
thing unless there is a waiting period built into your policy. Read your
insurance book very thoroughly and be well informed. It helps in the
process.

I am in the same situtation as you, though I have had my insurance for
about four months now. The only waiting period in my policy is for
pre-existing conditions, which have a wait period of one year. You have a
pre-existing condition if you have seen a doctor about it previously.
Otherwise, its not a pre-existing condition, even if you had it before
insurance coverage started.
