I had lap/rny almost 4 months ago - so I cannot speak about the lap band,
but I too had no energy. They said it was normal in the beginning - you've
had surgery and your body is healing and adjusting, etc. They mentioned
that the B12 shots may give you a bit of a boost, but nothing too crazy.
When I spoke to my surgeon/NUT/PCP they suggested more iron, so I am taking
Vitron-C, an otc for like $8 that has helped me in so many ways. I also
keep taking my sublingal B12 every other day and it all seems to be helping
- in addition to my body being healed and adjusted. Good luck.

Sandy have you've had your Blood Labs done since your Surgery Date. The
Suggestion is that they should be done Two weeks Post-op and then Monthly
for at least the first year. Then every three months if your not having any
problems. For the next year leading to at the least every 6 months from
then on. Or more if there is any signs of difficulties. Check with your
Surgeon for details as most Primary Doctors don't know Bariatric Symptoms.

Low energy is very normal - especially so close to surgery. I still have
my days of low energy at almost a year out. I can directly attribute them
to when I'm lazy and not watching my protein, when I'm eating too many
carbs (they make me tired), when I haven't been taking my vitamins -
espeically B12 and Bcomplex. Low iron can make you tired too. I find when
I start paying attention to what I eat and take my vitamins, I get my
energy back. Oh, when I don't get my daily walks in, the lack of exercise
also leaves me with less energy.

I'm 6 years out and completely washed out. No energy. I had more at 319 lb
than I do now. But that is NOT the norm. But for those of us who never got
energy back life is not so good.
Yes, I've had years of all kinds of blood tests... no one knows what is
wrong. I don't regret WLS... but every year I feel worse and worse and
don't have any belief that I'll be around to many more years if the problem
is'nt found. Again, this is NOT the norm. More than likely about six months
out you'll get your energy back. You are just to new post op. It usually
takes four months after surgery for your body to get back on track. Good
luck.

I had my lap band on 2-2-07. I have had extreme fatigue for years. I even
have CFS (chrinic fatigue syndrome) I have found that I HAVE to take my
vitamins (I use the liquid vitamins from Costco... and a liquid iron
...because the absorbe immediately) I also give myself vit B-12 shots
weekly. I have felt tons better. Yes, I am still tired, but usually only
when I get myself off my schedule. Check your sleeping habits.I thought
that I didn't need my c-pap anymore, I still do. Definately watch your carb
intake. Try a boost (yes the stuff your grandma drinks) they help, they
also have ones that are high in protein, if the problems persist and you
are just too tired to function, definately go see your dr. but do your
part. Good luck...
