Question:
Does any one work for or know about the Dept of Social Services?
I wanted to know how does the fraud investigation goes.Several days ago some one from social services came to my house saying that my childrens farther lives with me, which he doesnt. And they have to investigate to see if he does. Does any one know how long the investigation last and what are they looking for... contact me by email [email protected] — Sylvia Clyburn (posted on April 19, 2006)

Sorry about your problems, but this site is for Weight Loss Surgery issues.
This is not the correct form, sorry

Hi Sylvia, Please don't feel bad for posting your question here. You are a
pre-op nearing your surgery date. I think all aspects of a person's life
can effect weight loss and their related issues. Just prior to surgery is
not a time when you should be having to worry about Social Services. I
think it is a very legit question. It really burns me up when ppl try to
tell others how to use this forum. Unless a moderator deletes your
question, those not interested should just move on to the next question.
OK...off my soap box.....Unfortunately I do not have an answer for you
since I have never been through a similar situation. I just hope that
things resolve quickly for you and you are able to focus on your upcoming
surgery and getting healthy. I wish the best for you and your children.

Excuse me, Steve, but this is absolutely the "right" forUm for
someone who may be having to rely on medicaid to pay for their surgery!
How rude!

Back off and leave her alone steve! Hun, I've been through it, as long as
he's not living with you then don't sweat it. I got a letter from my
stating he wasn't living with me, had him get it notarized, also, have
friends do the same thing as witness that he doesn't live there, the more
you get the better it makes them feel like an ass for bothering you! You
should be fine. Nothing to hide, then don't let it get you down.

Geez doesn't the DFS have REAL complaints to deal with? How many children
are legitimately suffering out there and they spend their time barking up
trees. Ooops, wrong rant. (((Hugs)))

I've been on this site for 6 years, and the people that decide to talk
never cease to amaze me .. anyway, I work for Child Protective Services in
Indiana. In my state (it's called Family and Social Services here), they
request documentation showing that the father lives elsewhere and as much
proof of that as possible. Utility bills, copies of leases for both of you
showing different addresses, etc. is great documentation to show. Nothing
wrong in calling them up and asking what documentation you can produce to
show that he doesn't live there. Good luck!

I don't work for child protection, but work with many families who are
involved with child protection services. Nicki is right, if you can
provide them with documentation stating that he is on a lease elsewhere or
something that proves he is not living with you, everything should be fine.
Just make sure you comply with all of their requests. you don't want to
end up in a postion where they say you are not willing to work with them as
they are requesting. Good luck to you.

Sylvia,
I am a pre-op patient in San Diego, Ca and also a sworn law enforcement
officer who investigates welfare fraud for the county of san diego. I can
tell you from first hand experience with investigations of this type that
if you have correctly reported all of your information to the social
services department and gave them all the right info then you have nothing
to worry about. In my county we have 10 days to investigate a case and
come to a determination - I don't know what the guidelines are in your
state, but I'm sure you can call your social services representative and
ask them.
It is definitely stressful to have an investigator at your home, but as
long as you have given truthful info and signed all the paperwork, etc. you
shouldn't have a problem.
Good luck!
