Question:
What is the typical daily diet of a 3 month post-op?
I'm scheduled for surgery May 8th, and will be going back to school August 14th, so just over 3 months from the time of surgery. I'll be at school from 9 am-2 pm, with a break here and there. I'm worried I won't be able to eat often enough to keep my energy levels up. How can I plan for meals during those days? I know I still have some time before school starts, but the pre-surgery jitters are making me think of everything that could possibly go wrong in life after surgery. — Ginger V. Ginger,
I was in the same boat 3 years ago!!! But I took like cheese, nuts,
soft jerky (remember-chew chew chew) high protein snacks is what will get
you through that time that you are at school. Maybe some shakes ready to
mix in a bottle also will help you.

I am 4 months post-op........some things that I take to work are cheese,
jerky (very high in protein, but watch the sodium), Atkins protein
shakes(have to be cold tho), soy chips(Revivalsoy.com), soy
nuts(Revivalsoy.com), and protein bars(watch the sugar and carb counts).
Be sure you take plenty of water to drink. Some days I also make small
lunch meat wraps. You can get low carb wraps in the refrig section at
Publix that taste good...just put an ounce of lunch meat and a ounce of
cheese and wrap it up...maybe add some mustard for spice...good source of
protein and quick and easy.

Ginger, I have had good results from the Atkins ready to drink shakes.
They taste really good and have chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. I am 3
weeks post op and I'm always on the go so I pack those insulated lunch bags
with my shake, cheese and turkey slices rolled up. This has helped a lot.
I am sure that by the 3 months post op you will be able to add other things
to our diet. For right now though, I am only on proteins. I try to eat
little bits of protein every 3 hours or so.
Have a blessed journey on your new life!!!

South beach makes some very good cereal bars that are 10 grams of protein
each.
