Question:
Do anyone out there know of a GOOD good surgeon in baltimore, maryland....
preferabbly in the towson area. I heard that Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center has a wonderful Bariatric center there; however, I am employed there and would prefer to go else where. — love2bsmaller (posted on December 3, 2005)

Shawanda,
I understand your reasoning.
I've seen some good reviews about Sinai Bariatric Center. I've looked into
their center and as soon as I've completed 4 months of physician monitored
weight loss, I'm going to contact them. If you go to their webiste, they
have an application form that you can complete and email to them. The
contact person there is Karen Sweeney and she is very, very, good about
responding via email and usually answers the phone. I've already submitted
my packet to them. You can download, complete it and email it back to
them. I have CIGNA PPO and they have a required of 6 months diet and
exercise program and you have to visit your doctor on a monthly basis. If
you miss a month you have to start all over.
Let me know how things go. My email address is [email protected]

I have a friend who just had his surgery done at Bayview. His result was
good. However, I dont know of any others in Baltimore that do this. There
is Barix clinics in Philadelphia, and my surgery is scheduled the end of
this month in York, PA.

I went with Dr Apparo Vanguri on Belair road 2 years ago and can only say
that he and his staff are the best and they have a great aftercare program
as well, 410-529-7500. Good luck and God Speed.

Hello,
I had my surgery at Bayview as well. My doctor's name was Dr. Thomas
Magnuson. He was the best. His nurse is Pat. She is a real jewel. I had
my surgery in September of 2005. I would not go anywhere else if I was
you. I looked into Dr. Gandas as well but I liked Dr. Magnuson the best.
Call him TODAY. Good Luck

I'm in the process of looking for a surgeon also. Last year when I first
considered surgery, I sat in on a few of the information sessions a Sinai.
The patients of Dr. Gandsas that I spoke to seemed to be happy. But now I'm
confused. I have several friends who've gone through the surgery so I've
heard good things about the Dr Vanguri (affiliated with St Josephs), on
Belair Rd and Dr. Fullum in D.C. Another one of my girlfriends had her
surgery at St Agnes. I think I'm ultimately going to go with Sinai. They
just won award of excellence for thier Bariatric program plus It's close to
my home. Take your time in chosing. Peace and Blessings.
