Question:
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD SLOW WEIGH LOSS POST OP AND STILL HAVE SUCCESS LONG TERM LOSS?
I AM 5 MONTHS POST OP, I STARTED AT 344 LBS AND AM ONLY DOWN TO 275 (69LBS) I FEEL GOOD BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT MY "HONEYMOON" PERIOD IS COMING TO AN END AND I HAVE NOT HAD THE SUCCESS I WAS HOPING FOR. MOST PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH MORE WEIGHT LOSS, EVEN THOSE WHO START OUT WITH LESS TO LOOSE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!! — PEGGY R. (posted on June 25, 2004)

Peggy.. I wish I had some comforting answers for you.
I too am a slow loser. My surgery was Jan.7th and I am down 64lbs.
I think we will get there, it will just take us a little longer than
everyone else.
On the brightside...we won't have all that EXCESS skin to worry about
hopefully!
Hugs and keep smiling!

My surgery was on 1/7 and I am down 74#. I started at 287. Many others in
my support group have lost more weight faster but I try not to be
discouraged and my physician is very happy with my progress. It has been 5
1/2months since surgery and I sure couldn't have lost this much weight this
fast on my own without this wonderful RNY tool! I am so glad to finally be
conquering this weight problem! You are not alone.

yes, its ok to have slow weight loss, its hard though, because you keep
seeing people who lose 100+ in 4 months, personally, i know i have had a
hard time not comparing myself, i have lost 91lbs in 8 1/2 months, 100+
from my highest personal weight
but you know what,
im still losing, i dont have too many troubles with food intolerances, and
i admit i dont exercise as much as i should, i know then i would lose
faster, but it hasnt happened ....
its hard to not compare, but remember in the end, as long as your lsoing
the speed , and even the plateuas and setbacks are ok
you'll make it eventually
on the upside, i have talked to people who have lost "only" 100
lbs at a year out.......
you know what, i admit, i would like to lose more, but if i stopped losing
today , i would still be better healthwise, and self image wise than i
would have been without the surgery .

I am 8 days away from being 5 months Post Op and I have lost 59
pounds.......it is the best feeling in the world. Yes, I am loosing slow,
but at least I am LOOSING. I can walk so much better ( artificial knees,
bones removed from both hips), I can breathe much better and I look and
feel MUCH better.
I was 211 when I started my journey and I have been up and down with my
weight already, I expected that, but I am very pleased with my results so
far. And as one poster said earlier, I don't have nearly as much loose
hanging skin as some people I have seen. Just be glad that you are
loosing.............when did you ever loose weight like this before??? I
never did. Good luck, drink your water, eat your protein, get in your
exercise, take your vitamins and be happy.
