Question:
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD SLOW WEIGH LOSS POST OP AND STILL HAVE SUCCESS LONG TERM LOSS?
I AM 5 MONTHS POST OP, I STARTED AT 344 LBS AND AM ONLY DOWN TO 275 (69LBS) I FEEL GOOD BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT MY "HONEYMOON" PERIOD IS COMING TO AN END AND I HAVE NOT HAD THE SUCCESS I WAS HOPING FOR. MOST PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH MORE WEIGHT LOSS, EVEN THOSE WHO START OUT WITH LESS TO LOOSE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!! — Peg R. (posted on June 26, 2004)

IT IS NORMAL, DON'T BE DISCOURAGED IT WILL START AGAIN. IF GOES SLOW IT'S
BETTER FOR YOUR SKIN AND OVERALL HEALTH. MINE WAS THE SAME WAY AND NOW I
HVAE LOST 125 LBS. AND I WANT TO STOP LOSING.

Hi I also was a slow loser. I didn't even hit the 100lb. mark until 13
months post-op. I had open RNY July 2002 started at 315 and today am
192lbs. I have never been at goal weight(180) but am at goal size 12/14. I
have always exercised at Curves and have recently added 2.5 mile walk
dailyand weight is starting to move slowly again. I have floppy skin on
abdomen and what I call a shelf of skin on buttocks that will be removed
next spring should end up size 10! I am now almost 2 yrs out and very happy
with all my success and you will be too. Your still early in the game just
follow what you have been doing your weightloss is great already. Best
Wishes!

Hang in there...I too am a slow looser..or so " I " think. I am 6
months post op and down 65 lbs...I was/am right where you are.. I feel
better, but I can't seem to see the loss when I look in the mirror...My
surgeon is very happy with my loss...he likes to see an AVERAGE of 10-12
lbs a month, over a 15 month period...So I TRY to focus on the looser part
of "slow looser" rather than the slow part....I've been told it
will be worth the wait.....Hang in there....know that your not alone....
God Bless, stay healthy!

I had a long no-loss period. It happened when my body made the transition
to start allowing high calorie foods.
It took me a long time to realize that I had to start dieting again (pardon
my language) and not rely on my appetite to keep me 'honest'. Then the
pounds started coming off very quickly.
The easiest days for me are ones when I have NO carbs until dinner time.
Then, for the rest of the day, I have little appetite.
Good Luck!

I am sure glad you asked this. I have beeen thinking EXACTLY the same
thing. I had open RNY on 1/30/04, and am 5 mo today. I started at 352 and
last visit to surgeon weighed 287 for a loss of 65 lbs. I feel this has
been slow lately too the last couple of months, but averages about 13 lbs a
month. I NEVER could have lost this much by myself. It is good to know that
others lost slow, but eventually got to their goals. I have been reading
profiles and have been trying NOT to compare myself to others losses. I
know that everybody loses differently, and since I'm doing the best I can,
this will have to do. Sorry to beb so gabby. I just got off of nightshift
and am wide awake! You're doing great! We'll make it (we have our secret
weapon - our small pouches and malabsorption). Have a great summer and
enjoy the ride!!
