Question:
Has anyone been approved but had to switch to another doctor?
I just want to know if anyone has had any problems getting reapproved? I want to know what to expect. Thanks. — Ronika D. (posted on March 27, 2003)

Hi
Yes I was approved with my first Dr and had a date in December to have the
surgery but I called and he did not do the RYN and that's what I wanted. So
I started going to my New Dr and he is Wonderful!!! Im so glad I changed
and it did not take too long to get approved again it had been awhile since
I had gotten approved so I had to go through it all over again but in 5
weeks I was approved again. It really all depends on you ins company. Good
Luck!!!

Ronika,
I did that, I was approved for surgery and wound up changing surgeons, My
insurance company didn't take it back to the re-approval, ( if there is a
proccess ) they used the same approval they just contacted the insurance
company to let them that I had changed hospitals, surgeron's and it was no
problem. No further delays.!
Hope this helps.

Check out my profile, I try to keep it up-to-date, It may give you a little
more insight regarding the switching of the surgerons;

I am pretty sure that once you are approved for the surgery then they cant
take the approval back even if you switch doctors. I got approved for the
surgery, but they wouldnt approve the doctor because they werent network, i
didnt want to pay extra so i found one in my network and all they had to do
was send a letter saying they were taking over my care and wait for a
conformation letter from the insurance co approving the doctor.
Good luck.
