Question:
Does penis size decrease too?
MY WIFE IS ALL FOR ME HAVING THE WLS, HOWEVER SHE POSED A ODD BUT FAIR QUESTION. WILL YOUR PENIS SHRINK ALONG WITH YOU WHEN THE WEIGHT FALLS OFF? HELP... — KEVIN P. (posted on June 28, 2000)

At the risk of embarrasing myself, I will attempt to answer this question.
First, the penis doesn't have fatty tissue in it, so it won't shrink when
you lose weight. Second, some very large men appear to have a very small
penis. This is caused by pads of fat on the pubic area that kind of
"bury" the penis. Once that fat is gone, the penis will appear
larger. Hope this helps.

Well now, this sure is a sensitive subject.. I can't speak for the
men, however, I know that the loss of 124 pounds sure changed the
appearance in the both size of the pubic region (lots less pads of fat
on the pubic area, cushion & width) Kind of like when I found my
hip bones and ribs. This area was just another bone that I found,
that was covered in layers of fat, that I have not felt to this
degree in a long while, but also the inner appearance changed.. For the
better I might add *Smile* Also I have found the loss of weight makes
for much more enjoyable sexual relations.. I mean it was great
before but now after the weight loss (more intimate contact and
positions possible) But I would think that weight loss in men would
only enhance the ability for deeper penetration, Now that I have
thoroughly embarrassed myself I'll let the men answer this question..

Geez Kevin! And I thought I covered all the bases I could have covered in
my fears of having this surgery. Smaller or not, I would think that not
getting out of breath or being able to try new things are trade offs if in
fact that happens..... I guess I'll find out soon (Surgery Date 6/30/00)

Hi Kev,
As one man to another, I really think that se will be so much better with
WLS. Gosh, just the subject of this makes my face turn 4 shades of
red..LOL! I commend you on your question. I have wanted to ask a question
along the lines of what you asked, but I was to embarrassed. In fact, Lynn
pretty much answered my question...and I do agree with her. Good luck!!

Great question...I am glad you wrote what you said Victoria..I have been
wondering about some of these things myself. As a married woman to a
wonderful husband, it's great to know that things just get better or should
I say bigger..LOL...

I have noticed that it appears that mine has stayed the same size, but
since my body size has decreased, it appears to be much larger. Not sure
if this is a real issue, but it certainly is a relevant issue. I'll be
happy to answer anymore questions about this. I'm 2 years post op and
still experiencing new things.

If you read the previous posts made by women, they all have LOL (laughing
out loud) or LMAO (laughing my *ss off). One person put 3 "LOL"s
in her post. But consider the seriousness of the replies when a woman is
worried about her breasts shrinking after surgery. I guess there is no quid
pro quo. BTW, when you have your apron removed, ask the surgeon to cut the
skin under the penis that connects it to the scrotum. You'll gain another
inch or two. In addition when you lose the weight, your testosterone levels
will be higher because your body mass will be less. I had breasts pre-op
(gynocomastia) and saw an endocrinologist and that is what he told me; that
there is just so much testosterone and it gets "diluted" by your
large body mass.
After surgery you'll also find you'll get spontaneous erections during the
day again, as well as having them wake you up at night. AND when you have
your tummy tuck, ask your doc about putting in pec inserts, so you'll have
washboard abs.

I don't think anyone responded insensitively to this post - post-op
relations are important to both genders, as the person who posed the
question indicated it came from his wife. The person who put three LOLs in
their post is MALE. The anonymous person who put a LOL in their post is
MALE. We all have issues, and many affect both genders.

I don't think anyone, male or female, meant to be insensitive, and there
are several female responses that are quite frank, factual and with not a
single LOL, LMAO or anything else. I think some of the
"LOL/LMAO" are nothing more than slight embarrassment on the part
of the poster at the level of self disclosure they provided on a sensitive
and very personal subject. And the "hehehe" at the end of Vic's
post looked like a little mild flirtation directed at tj - don't see the
harm in that. I don't know of too many places where you can go and get
such frank answers to such personal (and yes, to some of us, slightly
embarrassing questions) as what is provided in this forum. I have seen
questions ranging from butt-wiping and other personal hygiene issues to sex
positions, breast size, penis size, and sexual desire answered on this site
with sensitivity, factual information, and frequently ... with humor.
Please don't take it personally ... we are, for the most part, adults here
and do realize that these topics are legitimate concerns for both genders.
In direct response to Kevin's wife's question: From my personal
experience, the actual size of the penis does not change. What does change
is the fact that there is less excess flesh between you and your DH
(regardless of whether it is the male, female, or both who loses the
weight) so he will most likely be able to achieve greater penetration.
Personally, I find this to be a benefit. So, if you are worried that his
WLS might short-change you in this area, set your mind at ease. I have
also noticed improvements in stamina, flexibility, and level/frequency of
desire. Certain positions that may have become difficult or impossible
might actually become fun again! The missionary position may be the
"flannel pajamas" of sexuality, but it has always been a favorite
of mine of and is much more pleasurable (sometimes possible again) when one
or both of the participants loses weight, particularly in the tummy area.
This is where my DH carries most of his excess weight and I have noticed it
is often the case with guys. After WLS, when the pounds start coming off,
your DH will probably feel so much better physically and emotionally, that
he will just be more fun to be around and be with. As his self-esteem
increases, you will probably see lots of changes, both sexually and
otherwise. It will be important for you to work through these together.
If anyone would like to e-mail me privately, I will attempt to frankly and
sensitively answer any and all questions from people considering WLS and
their significant others. My e-mail address in on my profile. If I can't
help with a particular question, I will say so ... without judgment.
To Anonymous: I think I provided a frank and sensitive response to this
post and btw, I am female, if you can't tell from my name. Please note
that except when quoting others, I managed to do it without a single grin,
giggle, LOL, or LMAO (I have tried repeatedly to LMAO, but have never been
successful ... but that is another story). I am sorry that you were
offended by some of the other posts and I hope you aren't offended by mine.
Some of us use humor to get through difficult times ... I would have never
made it this far if I couldn't laugh ... at myself and WITH others.

My hubby had the surgery and "it" has grown to a very admirable
size. His sister (a nurse) told him that large men's penises tend to
withdraw into the body. All I know is that although the rest of his body
has reduced, that other particular part has increased.

I read somewhere that for every 20 pounds a man is over weight, he loses an
inch off his penis........the fat just kinda pushes out around it
swallowing it up.....soooooo, when you LOSE weight, the fat shrinks back,
leaving your penis longer than than it appeared to be when you were heavy.
( Was married to a 340lb. man who had a 'teeny weenie' and he always SWORE
that when he was thin it was MUCH longer) LOL Hope this helps!!
