Question:
How do I obtain a children's menu restaurant card?
When I go out to eat, I'm not allowed to order off the children's menu. How do I obtain a card that allows me to order off the children menu? — abrown1920 (posted on June 4, 2012)

I received a card from my surgeon a long time ago. If your surgeon doesn't
have them, you can always make your own if you have the computer skills to
do so. Another good option is to order off of the Senior's menu if the
restaurant will allow you to do so.
I'm from St. Louis and have only had trouble ordering from the kid's menu
once. After I explained my situation to the owner, I never had a problem
at that establishment again.

I learned a long time ago, the card isn't really necessary. Generally I
just tell the server that I am gastric bypass patient and have lost 325 lbs
and I would like to eat off the children's menu. Most are more excited to
ask me about the surgery and I've NEVER been turned down, no matter what
restuarant I am at. It just takes being willing to share about your
lifestyle. Originally I was so nervous to speak about it, or even admit i
had it. Finally I looked at a 'friend' that was bad mouthing me about
having surgery and I just said, so I assume you would rather see me in a
casket then with 6 little scars and a smaller plate of food? I vowed that
day I would treat my fat as if it had been cancer, and be proud of my fight
for survival.
