Question:
I have a below the knee amputation due to bone infection and other knee needs replace
A year and a half ago, I lost my leg to a major bone infection and also found out that I need to have my other good knee replaced due to major arthritis. If I am off of my anti inflammatory, I can not walk very well and know that exercise is very important to the success of WLS. I do water therapy but is that going to be enough until I can get my knee replaced? Any other amputees out there in same boat? — Rhonda H. (posted on March 5, 2010)

My brother was involved in a very serious accident 30 years ago, and he was
left with his right leg substantially shortened. He has a partial
amputation of his left foot, due to infection. The combination of the two
makes exercising difficult. Prior to his accident, he was an avid runner.
He now swims regularly. That is the one exercise he does with little
difficulty. He also has a Total Gym he uses at home. Because you already
participate in water aerobics, perhaps you can begin a more intensive
swimming regimen.

Sorry, I am not in the same boat, but there are exercises you can do
sitting (check out chairdancing.com) and swimming is a VERY good exercise.
Good luck!
