We never know our time to go, only God knows that! You are doing something
very good for yourself and for your wife. It is very scary anytime you have
surgery, I fill so much healthier just since Dec. having my lap band and
losing 22 lbs in 1 month, I don't have all the pain that I had,I had to get
the weight off, I had bilateral hip replacements this past yr and 2 spinal
fusions in the past 10 yrs. I hardly have any pain now. I had no
complications, not even vomiting. GOOD LUCK PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR
WIFE.

I had the same problem, I just put my faith in the Lord, and I am writting
to you two weeks after RNY. I have had no disconfort of any time, except
that I do not have any pants small enough to fit. Now that's a problem.

Ugh, I have the same problem in my family but its my 20 year son and my 15
year old daughter that are terrified. I just keep telling them how this
surgery will help me live a longer healthy life. My fear now is not seeing
them marry or being there when they have children. Good luck to you! My
Surgery Date is Feb, 22.

its normal for our loved ones to worry. If you have health problems, remind
them that our being obese is a lifew risk as well. You could die from that.
I believe that when its our time, its our time, so no matter what the
circumstance, if your number is up...Let them read some of the posts on
here. Show them the b4 and after pics, take them to the dr's with you. My
husband was afraid too, then he went to the orientation with me and felt
better. Best of luck! Hugs,Kim

I was scared. My daughter was convinced that I was going to die. I am
fine. I had RNY surgery 12/29. What are the chances that you will die
sooner if you do not have surgery? What is the risk to you in having
surgery? The mortality rate has gone down in recent years. My surgeon said
that it is the same mortality rate as for gall bladder surgery.

I have to say being a wife I can understand her feelings. I have been 3
days post op and that was my only fear, dying not going to see my family
again but here I am and as you can see alive and well. It is natural for
her to feel this way my husband did also. maybe you can both seek
information have her talk to the doctors it really does help.

It's surgery and with that comes many possibilities of complications. My
husband and family were worried about me too, but you know what, I
explained I have a better chance of surviving this major surgery than I do
staying 364lbs and dying of a heart attack. It's a risk you are willing to
take to LIVE! I had my surgeon explain the pros and cons of the surgery to
my husband. After that, we prayed about it and my husband's worries were
lifted. Fear is Faith contaminated! Technically the person you are going
into surgery will die. The person that is brought back from surgery will
be a new and improved you!
