I wouldn't touch nyquil - way too strong! I had some at 4 months out and
felt very lightheaded (almost drunk). It is very typical after the
anesthesia to have some insomnia. The first two weeks after surgery I
couldn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time - take it easy, I know it is
frustrating - but you are recovering from major surgery and your body is
reacting. Best of luck to you.

I took nyquil at about 5 months out. Felt sick most of the night, had to
sleep (the little I got) in a recliner. No more nyquil for me! Benadryl
works just fine.

I have had the same problem post RNY. I am taking Unisom. They have the
sleep melts that melt in your mouth. Sleep is what your body needs to
heal...so for now I am taking them.
Best of luck in your journey.

The best thing to do is call your doctor and tell him/her what you are
going through. One thing I have learned through all of this is that we ALL
REACT DIFFERENTLY TO DIFFERNT THINGS~! Nyquil (altho I'm not sure)
probably has sugar in it that will cause either dumping syndrome or at the
very least a touch of nausea. It has to have some alcohol in it for sure.
I noticed when I couldn't sleep that the pain killers they sent me home
with would help. I'm not pushing the pain killers by any means, just a
suggestion. Again, call your dr's office. They will tell you what you can
and can't take. Hope you catch some ZZZZ"s. Hugs, Sue

Check with your MD but during my mom's chemo they gave her a couple of
benedryl and she was sound asleep. She still uses it when she can't sleep.
I have used it successfully a few times when I can't sleep but I am pre op
so I don't know what you MD would say.

I was told the only OTC meds that are ok to take are tylenols. Maybe you
could find tylenol that would help you fall asleep. I slept most of the
time after surgery. Good luck!
