Question:
HOW MUCH DO YOU HAVE TO GAIN BACK FOR A REVISION
Just wondering how much do you have to have gained back for you to get a revision. Do you have to be a hundred pounds over weight like you did when you got approved for the surgery. I never reached goal weight my lowest weight was 140lbs. and now I weigh 170lbs. I had surgery 5yrs ago. (RNY) — TTT (posted on November 5, 2009)

I know it is frustrating that you regained weight. But is having a
revision the answer. Please reconsider your choice. Look into revisiting
losing weight when you first had the surgery. Visit with a nutrition
counselor or a bariatric professional. With any surgery for weight loss,
weight can be regained. Surgery has enough risks, without revisiting, if
other solutions can be considered. Take Care.

Personally, with my insurance, you had to be 100lbs overweight (BMI over
35) with 2 co-morbidities, even to have a revision. You also had to have a
"mechanical defect" in the procedure or lose less than 50% of
your excess weight. At 170lbs, I do not think a revision is your answer
yet. I doubt your insurance company would either. Go back to basics and
see a nutritionist to see what they have to say. If your lowest was 140,
you can expect a bounce back weight of 10-15lbs so really we aren't talking
about a lot of weight on top of that.

Even a pound makes you worry but you know you did a great jobb to get down
to the 140 in the first place. Go back to basics and see if you can do it.
To be approved for surgery they make you lose weight so just do the high
protein no carbs and make it work for you.

Go under forums, then surgical to revisions board and you might hop over to
the duodenal switch board, that,s what everyone all most is changing to ds
from Rny and the band, and vgb.

One year out post RNY and now starting to vomit when eating most anything
that is not soft. Vomit has had streaks of blood twice now and everything
hurts while being digested. I hate my surgeon and don't want to go back and
see him. Any advise?
