My doctor and dietician told me that I would need 70 gms of protein for the rest of my life. Men need 80 gms, if I remember correctly. These numbers don't change, no matter what point you are. Hope this helps! :)

Hi--and congratulations for your 5th+ year post-surgery! I had R-N-Y on June 3rd, 2009. My surgeon and the dietician/nutritionist say that at least 60 grams of protein per day is the current requrement. That said, it seems like every doctor differs in their program! Ask a question, and chances are you'll get a different answer from each responder (seems to me). We should go by what our doc and dietician say, but there's no reason that you couldn't se someone else for a second opinion if you think your docs are not doing what feels really right, is there? Good luck--and just keep plugging in the protein!
