Question:
3 weeks post op diet question
What did u normally eat at3 weeks post op? I think I am messing up somewhere. I can't stand milk so I have to find other ways to get protein in. — soontobeme (posted on May 1, 2009)

i am 4 weeks out and i am on the puree stage, i eat refried beans , canned
roast beef hash( all blended to a puree stage) scrambled eggs, all this is
only a 1/4 cup. i also drink alot of protein shakes and protein water. i
found K20 packets with 5 grams of protein that i mix with m water to give
me the extra protein that i need. i hope that this helps some. of course
always check with your dr. on what they want you to eat at this stage . i
should go on soft foods next week. Good luck

At this point, I can eat any protien, other than milk, as long as it is
pureed. streak, shrimp, ham, chicken, cottage cheese, but only one shake a
day

At three weeks Post-Op, I was eating refried beans from Taco Bell (thinned
with a little beef broth), Egg Beaters, fat-free-sugar-free pudding,
fat-free-low-carb smooth yogurt, and 2% milk-fat cottage cheese with a
little dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix stirred in. I was just
beginning to transition to soft food...and so was eating liverwurst and
pureed chicken and poached tilapia at that time as well. Right now, I'm
pretty much sticking with that regimen. Oh yeah, I also LOVE sushi, and
miss my regular Friday night sushi date, so found another way to get around
it... I have them chop up two scallops the way they would for putting it in
a hand-roll, and have about 2 ounces of it. I eat it with a baby spoon,
and take small bites that just melt in my mouth, and it's my wonderful
indulgence for the week. As far as protein, I recommend IsoPure RTD (ready
to drink), or the New Whey Bullets that you can put into Crystal Light or
fruity herbal tea - they're countable as part of your water intake AND as
part of your protein intake daily. I also have other protein powders that
I absolutely love... Lean Dessert's Chocolate Coconut Candy Bar and Fresh
Cinnamon Bun and Banana Nut Bread, and New Whey's Fuzzy Navel. Also, the
EAS that you can get from Costco is not bad at all. I just make sure to
shake them up really good, and then let them sit for about 15 minutes for
all the protein powder to dissolve, then shake them up again. I also used
the Any Whey protein in beef broth and liquified spinach soup....it's
ordorless and tasteless. If you go to the bariatriceating.com site, they
have an enormous amount of options for you... plus a lot of information on
being post op and appropriate foods for you to be eating at different
stages. Hope this helps!
