Question:
BEING A BUSY PERSON WITH WORK AND KIDS, HOW DO YOU FIND TIME TO EXCERCISE??

You have to schedule it in just like anything else. You don't have to do it all at once, you can do a few minutes here and a few minutes there. It all adds up. My mantra is "food is for fuel and exercise is not optional". I just ordered the 10 minute serious of exercise DVD's from Beachbody.com (I have no affiliation with) which should arrive soon. The 10 minutes is just perfect for busy people and really is all the exercise my WL surgeon requires us to do everyday... anything over that is a bonus. You don't have to leave the house or it doesn't have to be in a gym... you can dance around the house with the kids, get up while watching tv and do jumping jacks or walk in place during commercials, take a 5 minute walk here and that at work, etc. You have to find the time to ensure long term success. Good luck, Dawn Vickers

I know it seems crazy, but it can be done. My nut told me that 30 min per day is better than 60 3 times a week. I work full time and have a family and I am going to school full time on line. The minute I get walk in the door of my house I change my cloths and go for a 30 minute walk. when I get home it is shower, dinner then study. I am very lucky that I have a husband that can take care of himself when needed but I just make myself do it. 30 minutes is not as hard for me to fit in than a heavy duty workout.....

I now park my car at the very far end of any parking lot, anywhere I go (grocery store, school, theater...). I walk more, don't have to compete for space and my husband is also super happy because my car is avoiding new scratches!

For me, the mother of 3 boys ages 11, 15, & 17, I have had to make sacrifices. I used to watch my son's practices. Now I miss out on those during the week, but never miss a game! For my 5 days a week that I exercise I don't let anything get in the way ... I go no matter what. One thing that has really helped me is joining a jazzercise class. I go to that 4 times a week. It is at a set time ... so I have to get there or I miss it. I also do my 2 miles each day ... that is where I do compromise ... I do it before my class sometimes ... while other times it comes after the class. No matter what I get it in!! I am 7+ months out and have lost 130 lbs. I am so proud of how hard I have worked and how healthy and strong I am becoming. Put yourself FIRST for once ... just that hour or so a day. You will be proud you did ... and so will your children! My son came up to me one day and hugged me real big and was shocked at how far his arms went around me ... he tells me all the time now how little I am getting. :D

Exercise doesn't have to be something that is chorish like going to the gym....I am the worst when it comes to excuses for exercise because honestly...I just HATE working out. (especially at a gym or crowded place) But, I am not lazy. I just get bored extremely easy and so I need to be creative. (yea, I'm high maintainance!) Summer is easy...I love mowing the lawn and yard work, gardening, going swiming at the lake or pool (something kids love too) with my dog or my adult kids, or alone with a book/IPod or hubby too. Spring, I love to go to the parks and walk the dog and look at all the spring flowers...I park far away and walk whereever i go...I take stairs instead of elevators..I even go to the mall before or after hours and walk it...We have a mall here that is 3 miles back and forth...I like to go when no one is there except security guards! Great for cold weather. I do "naked" sit ups and push ups too! LOL Before my shower I get all sweaty with a few of those and then shower! I take the long way on purpose...and at home if I am getting lazy..I will run up and down the stairs a few times on purpose and/or vacuum the house whether it needs it or not...I walk off dinner too...I record my shows and go for a walk..fast forward thru the commercials when I get back and theres my extra 30 minutes a day! One hour shows have 20-30 mins commercials! Talk about finding time! Right now I get great exercise raking leaves and mulching them with the mower...I realise this is not for many ladies...but I am not a gym person...oh...I even take my pedometer and aim for 2 miles a day...It's quite a motivator for me and addictive little thing... And last...I have learned to take time for me with NO guilt. Get a really cool Tae Bo tape (kick boxing w/Billy Sparks! TOO FUN!!!) My 22 year old son LOVES to do that with me! And my 19 yo daughter loves pilates and yoga and tai chi tapes! She just bought belly dancing dvds! That will be fun! My belly can jiggle for sure! So...if you are like me at all...find exercise that is fun and doesn't feel like a 30 minute timed chore that you have to do or gain weight...We gotta do this as a lifestyle..might as well enjoy life! If not, you gotta take the time whether you think you have it or not because exercise is the BEST way to stay fit and lose weight when you need to. It keeps you healthy and toned and feeling great...It even keeps the old joints and aches and pains at bay. Yes it does!

It is hard. I know. I have a 5 & 6 year old daughter. They have a pile of homework each night (even weekends). My employer have a gym on site so i have combined one one of my breaks and lunch for 3 days a week to ecercise and I also go running in the evening. It only takes 15 minutes for me to run a mile. My husband watches them at that time or sometimes I take them out with me. I run slower with them and sometimes not at all but we are still a bit active. that is all it takes. I will reach my year on 11/19/2008 and I have lost a total of 103. Hopefully, I can loose anothe 30-40lbs.

I am a mom of 5 kids, so i know how hard it can be..but what I do is drop off the older kids at school..then I will go to walmart, park the car @ the end of the lot, and carry my 9 mo old til I get a cart...then I walk the store for a few hours...this is when my husband is @ work...when hes off, I will take my oldest son w/ me and hit the gym...or we will walk to the playground and continue to just walk around...also if I dont have the car and its too hot outside, i just walk up and down my stairs...every little thing counts like this ;)
