Question:
Can anyone reccommend a good site for protein supplements and vitamins?

I see some on this site but don't know which one to choose.    — bubbiejudye (posted on October 3, 2008)

I just bought a case of this at my surgeon's office yesterday after I taste tested it and it was delicious. Tastes just like chocolate milk or chocolate shake. I also tasted the vanilla. Very tasty if you like vanilla and very sweet. Go to www.planetarynutrition.com and type in "Oh Yeah RTD Protein Shake" -- it comes in chocolate and vanilla. It's $39.95 for a case of 12 to buy online. It is a bit cheaper at "www.supplementwarehouse.com. It's about $35 a case there. I don't think I will like the protein powders plus this is easy for on the go people to take with you. I guess you pay more for the convenience. Trust me, this tastes great and it will satisfy a chocolate craving if you like chocolate. My surgery is next week Oct 9th RNY. I am sure there are other protein supplements there but I haven't tried them. For the vitatmins I was told Flintstones chewables or Centrum chewables.

I like the Jay Robb's egg protein - I get it on the website by the same name or from Whole Foods. For vitamins and other protein I use VITALADY.COM Michelle is a Distal RNYer and sells vitamins and protein and what I love is that she has samples of them so you sont have to buy a huge can and end up hating it! Check it out!

My surgeon suggested Atkins Advantage Shakes and you can get them at Walmart, Target, and pharmacies. They are cheaper at Walmart. They come in a lot of flavors, I only like Chocolate so there are several varieties of that. They are premixed and I keep them in refrigerator and drink them all the time. Vitamins, I just bought mine from GNC, to me they all tasted nasty. Good Luck on your weight loss journey

We have a store here locally (KC) called Manna Nutrition. They are fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable about bariatric products and they ship all over. I LOVE the Syntrax Nectar (fuzzy navel). Great source for vitamins, too. website: www.mannanutrition.com

I like BariatricEating.com, BSCI, livinglavidalowcarb.com, Steel's sugar free on line catalog is great, Snack & Slim protein puddings, Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins, Genisoy.com. I always keep a few RTD Atkins shakes on hand to drink alone or mix in a protein shake or pudding. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

I found some great tasting protein snack bars, protein snack chips and meal replacement bars available through Amway, I then became an IBO and have them available on my website. I will say the lemon protein snack bar and the blueberry crunch or apple cobbler meal replacement bars are the best! http://kkirchner.qhealthbeauty.com/

i buy all my vitamins at walmart -- as for protein, you can get all your protein from real food -- you should be taking in 60 - 72 grams a day -- meats, seafood, eggs, cheese, yogurt, milk are all good sources of protein -- good luck

Everyone's taste is very different. Some people like sweets and some do not. I do not really care for sweet drinks at all and find that is the taste of most protein shakes. Personally, I use Unjury and Nectar products. You can actually order samples of both from the following websites. www.unjury.com and www.enjoyhealth.com Unjury sells their samples for $1.75 each plus shipping. Unjury comes in chocolate, vanilla, unflavored, and chicken. The send you recipes on how to blend their proteins. They mix well in water, are not gritty or powdery, do not taste super sweet, and do not taste or smell of whey like some products. Enjoy health samples are $1.89 plus shipping. For some reason, you have to call them to order the samples as the website won't let me order them that way. The guy that answers the phone is really great and gives great insight to WLS since they have gone through this themselves. They have many flavors to choose from, are not overly sweet, look and taste great, not gritty or powdery, mix well in water (anywhere from 5-10 oz), and do not smell of whey. Hope all of our answers help you and not confuse you.

BariatricEating.com is a wonderful site for protien shakes and bariatric high protien ANYTHING! They have cereals and crisps and protien bars. I just got their Protien Shake Sampler and it was AWESOME!

I buy almost all of my supplements and vitamins from www.bariatriceating.com. I generally use Bariatric Advantage for vitamins, so you could go to their website as well (but they charge the same amount). It's also nice that you're able to order the protein sampler and try different flavors without buying a gigantic container. You COULD go to GNC or another local store IF you know what you need. A lot of GNC or "vitamin store" employees don't know much about WLS and could steer you in the wrong...very wrong...direction. There aren't a whole lot of the protein powders I like, but a good vanilla flavor is handy to have since you can use it as a "base" and add different things to it. I also like the New Whey 42g protein "bullets". As far as getting all of your protein from food...well, maybe...but probably not unless you're pretty far out from surgery. Also, my 2 cents...Unjury makes me gag...sorry :(

A1 Supplements is the cheapest and have the best shipping of any I have tried. Isopure creamy vanilla is very good. The only vitamins my surgeon will allow is bariatric vitamins. No flintstones or any other vitamins. You need to make sure you get 100 grams of protein before surgery and 65 grams of protein a day after surgery. Whey bullets in orange flavor and Isopure clear liquid is also very good. I have ordered from bariatric eating but I find A1 supplements to be 5 to 8 dollars cheaper on the same products and shipping is considerably less.

It depends on the product, but I usuall order from vitalady.com and bariatriceating.com. The 2nd one ships faster than vitalady. Vitalady has a great iron supplement called Tender Iron. Good luck. Danita

I really like bariatriceating.com - it's a good place for us to shop and find great information. I do, however, buy my liquid multi vitamin and supplement elsewhere. I take passion 4 life liquid and I like it very much. www.passion4lifevitamins.com/tarra Best of luck to you!

Best "liquid" vitamin / mineral supplement on market is VEMMA. For starters it has 1000 IU of vitamin D3. Is great for "regularity". Go to www.TrySomeVemma.com
