I found the best thing for me was to find a group and be held accountable
again. Begin journalling *everything* once again, go back to the basics
(protein first, lots of water, etc.) and find people to talk to.
There's a group on the WLS_Grads board that does accountability each day
and weigh-ins each week.. it's a great place for people who are over a year
out to come together and get a different kind of support.

Great answers from the other ladies. Be accountable, you took the
responsibility to have surgery, now step up and just DO what needs to be
done.
I am 3 yrs PO - I work out religiously 5-6x wk (and 2x wk w/trainer) and
gained 20 lbs. in the past 7 mos. I realized I was eating at least 1600
calories daily, after journaling - and needed to switch up my routine from
toning to MORE cardio at the gym. After changing to 1200-1300 calories and
1.5 hrs cardio, I am seeking out a dietician to look at my intake and see
where I need to change.
Read the posts, when in doubt - go to a dietician - this is what has always
been preached. You are NOT alone. Keep your chin up and don't quit.

Besides all of the great suggestions so far, try talking to the Doctor who
did the procedure. Also see if there is a local support group in or near
your area. Looks for those who can push you in a positive way. Go back to
the basics. They usually work.

I am so glad you posted this Jacqueline, my 5 year anniversary is tomorrow
and I am having the same difficulty. For the past year or so it was just 5
pounds up and down, no problem, but in March I suddenly started gaining and
couldn't lose back down, I am up 13.5 pounds. Well really since losing
everything during surgery 23 pounds. I had gained 10 pounds back and just
evened out at that point. Now I am nervous. This morning...got up and
jogged. I have got to find some way to get it back off. I don't feel I am
eating any different. I need to start journaling like others suggested and
I am also going to check out the website above. Thank you all for your
posts!

Sounds like good advice to me. I 'm not where you are yet. Just the
thought of having another procedure without trying to lose the weight first
may not be the best answer. We are all trying to work with the tool we
have been given and don't want to look at surgery as the first line of
getting the weight off. After 4 years out, you have done well with
keeping the weight off. God bless.

I have been feeling the exact same way! This Q&A was very helpful for
me. I already knew what to do but it helps hearing it from someone who is
going through the same thing. Thanks for the inspiration.

After 5 years I started gaining some weight back and I just went back to
the diet I was on before and I lost about 15 pounds more than I originally
lost before. I now stay on a diet and watch everything I put in my mouth. I
have talked with a lot of others to find out after their surgery it was
between 4 and 5 years they all started gaining weight back. Good luck to
you.
