My doctor informed me if I was diagnosed with that I would do pre-op
treatment (pill pack) and that would be all. It would be better to treat
right before my surgery. It would not interfer with surgery for me at
least.

Wow, they told you you're positive for H. Pylori and didn't tell how they
will treat it? Amazing! It's antibiotics taken right before your surgery.
No biggie.

I was told if they found it, it would be ten days of medication and then
that was it. They said that people have it with no symptoms and it can
clear up by itself but usually have to have meds. It is no big deal as I
was told. I didn't have it and I was lucky...

H. Pylori is the bacteria that causes stomach ulcers. It can easily be
treated with a round of antibiotics. As long as you are compliant with your
doctors treatment recommendations and you don't have major damage to the
lining of your tummy from ulcers you should be fine. But ultimately ask
your surgeon this question he/she would best be able to answer it.

I was diagnosed with H. Pylori also, by my surgeon. If your surgeon is
checking for this then they are doing all of the tests to make sure you
don't have any problems afterwards. A round of 2 different antibiotics for
10 days. Be prepared because 1 of them will leave an awful taste in your
mouth that will go away after treatment. If it goes untreated and they do
surgery it could cause you ulcers in the long run. 50% of people have H
Pylori and don't know they have the bacteria, it comes from food and it is
not contagious or harmful other than causing ulcers in the stomach lining.
You will be fine. You have a good surgeon if they tested for that.

I routnly operate on patients with H.pylori and never treat them before.
There is no need to do that. In more than 300 patients no problem was
identified in a long-term follow-up.
So you can be cool. Nothing will occur if you don't treat it
Good look

I also had h pylori. It is a bacteria that can cause ulcers. I just had to
take antibiotics for 2 weeks, the get 3 clear fecal tests. I had my surgery
three months later.
