Lots of time the added iron causes black, tarry poops. I'm over 2 months
out and they're still unusually dark. Keep in mind all the
vitamins/protein you're taking has to have an effect. If you're feeling
fine otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much, and/or you can bring it up at
your follow-up visit.

Sounds like too much iron. That is one of the signs is dark, tar like poop!
Good luck!

I too had this problem bowel movements resembled black jello and I had
terrible abdominal (upper and lower) pain along with diarrhea. I couldn't
get anything down. I went home on a Saturday and back to the surgeon's
office on Monday who had me directly admitted back to the hospital
with...pancreatitis. I was severely dehydrated by then and not in good
shape at all. I urge you not to wait with this matter because I spent more
time in the hospital because of the pancreatitis than I did for the bypass
surgery. Best of luck to you and feel better. Yours, Jo Ann
