Question:
I can't quite recall when my surgeon said I can start strength training
I was just wondering if anyone can tell me when you hit the gym or started lifting weights. I am 4 weeks out on tuesday and would like to do some upper body work — socialwork0608 (posted on November 17, 2007)

Four weeks is too soon. Keep walking and doing your cardio and build back
to the weight training. Three weeks out I thought I could do the body pump
at Gold's Gym and even though I took breaks --it wore me out. I realized
that I just needed to stick to walking and the stationary bike and built up
to weight training. I think I may have been 6 to 8 weeks out before I
included weight training and even then it would take me two days to recover
before working out again.

Hi. I had RYGB on sept 24 and was told to check with my doctor at my three
month visit and see if I could start any resistance training. Take it easy
and avoid getting hurt. Margarita

I was told I could do the treadmill and arm weights right away. Nothing
with the abdominals and legs until 6 weeks out. At which time I would need
clearance from my surgeon.
