Question:
Does anyone have great recipe suggestions for liquids (non-dairy)

I had revision surgery earlier this week. I am on full liquids for two weeks. Does anyone have great recipe suggestions for that time period? My original surgery was over 4 years ago so I don't remember what I used before. So far I've had sugar free Popsicles, lots of cream of chicken soup, broth, sf white grape juice, strawberry kiwi nectar w/sugar free tang, sf/fat free yogurt, water, and sf lemonade. I am not hungry at all but sure would love some ideas for other liquids or soft foods that don't have sugar, caffeine, or milk products.    — AnninTX (posted on August 2, 2007)

I actually have a question for you. I am preparing for revision surgery this year. I've had to take tons of tests, etc. and I'm in the home stretch. My original surgery was a gastric bypass (in 1999), but my pouch has stretched. The surgeon wants to do a lap band this time. Which surgical procedure did you have for this surgery? Is it working for you? I'm so afraid that I won't lose the weight I need to lose and will have this surgery (again) for nothing...

Hi Anne, When I went to weightwatchers I learned to make sugarfree pies. You could use the base recipe and try it to see what you think. I use one package sugar free vanilla cook and serve pudding 1 package sugar free jello, any flavor 2 cups water ( or 1 cup water and 1 cup juice of the fruit that would would normally put in..but no fruit.) Method: Dissolve the jello in the hot water or juice and slowly bring it to a boil. Add pudding and whisk rapidly, cook for 2 more minutes. You may poor hot liquid in pie plate or cups and cool. Make sure it is sugar free cook and serve. Instant wont work. Let me know what you think. I love it.

Ann, I drink a protein drink call Nature's Best Isopure Zero Carb. It has 40 grams of protein and you can mix it with water. The flavors I purchase the most are Apple Melon -- which I'm sipping on right now and this one is also good in the Apple Celestial Seasonings Tea (I see you didn't mention tea and these products are sugar and caffeine free); Grape and Alpine Punch are the three I purchase. Don't purchase the orange -- awfullly nasty -- ugh. This is a clear fruit punch protein drink and to drink it straight is an aquired taste -- that's why I suggest mixing it with water. I would take an empty liter bottle and pour the punch in and top it off with water. I did eventually move to oatmeal; however, it had to be mushy. I'm glad to see you are up and about and hope the soreness and movement is getting better.

Hi Ann- congrats!! When I was on full liquids my NUT said that I could put the tiniest, tinyest little dab of peanut butter in my chocolate flavored protien shake for the flavor. It was actually very good. She also had a suggestion to use frozen fruit or a 1/3 of a frozen banana instead of ice cubes. This also made my shake very frothy and it was good. Lastly, she said to heat up the chocolate flavored shake and make it like a hot chocolate. I agree with the last poster also, the isopure stuff is very good and you get a lot of protien. Make sure to get the kind with protien, however, the bottles look the same. Good luck!!!

I don't have any recipies but have some questions. How do you go about to get a revision? I remember when I had my bypass surgery I was allowed to eat suger free popsicles, lots of clear soup and lots and lots of water. Anything clear. I had my surgery in 2000 and I have gained about 30 lbs. I just was wondering if I need a revision.

I used lite coolwhip (non-dairy and on my list of things I could have) and stained some fruit, bananas, berries etc and made a smoothy with some protein and some ice, tasted like a milkshake, especially with the coolwhip added. Just make sure you buy the lite. Cant taste the difference and really filling. Good luck to you. I also had a revision, from the band to the RNY in 6 months ago, only 30 lbs to go, whooo hoooo, hope you will do just as well, I know you can. Take care.
