Question:
Carnation Instant Breakfast as a protein source?

I am wondering about using Carnation Instant Breakfast as a protein source, as opposed to a traditional protein shake. Any thoughts would be appreciated, as I seem to be in a plateau right now, and love the Carnation for taste, but am afraid I need more! Also, can you tell me if other protein drinks are loaded with calories? I have heard that from reading some blogs!    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on June 8, 2007)

There are better tasting protein powders out there than CIB...I like Walker very much. I think it has no aftertaste. I get it from Vitacost.

I wnt in for my three month check up today (June 8, 2007) and he told me that I could still drink Carnation Breakfast Drink (no sugar) for extra protein. He also told me that now I need to be getting at least 70 grams of protein. I've tried most of the other protein drinks and Carnation is most reasonable and works for me. When you're on a budget you can't afford to spend alot of something you can't drink so like I said before I like Carnation Breakfast (no sugar) for taste and for it's affordabilty.

I use the Achieve One coffee drink for extra protein. It has 20 grams, only 120 calories, is ready made and tastes delish! The CIB by itself does not have much protein. I guess if you are adding some additional source it is ok. I get the achieve one from www.c2linfo.com Good luck!
