I had surgery three weeks ago. My itching started at the hospital. I was
still itching last week. I found out that the hydrocodone (pain medicine)
was the cause. Once I stop taking it, the itching went away.

I had the ichie's as my daughter says...lol, the doc gave me a
hydrocortizone 1% cream, and told me to make sure to stay hydrated.
You can also try soaking in an aveno bath, pick that up at the local
pharmacy.
good luck with you journey

I had the same thing! it was the pain medication. I used it mainly to
sleep, but that was futile since it made me itch!! LOL you will be fine,
when you stop taking it. I am 6 mos post op and I remembe it well.

I have not had my WLS yet, but the same thing happened to me following my
c-sections. Once I was off the narcotics I was fine. Good luck!

Itching is a Good Sign - Ot means that there are no infections and your
wounds/incissions are healing as they should be. I'm post-op 9 months today
and doing fine.

For me too, it was the narcotics. Hope your itching stops soon.

It could be the cold or dry skin, but my first thought was what type of
pain meds are you taking? Some pain meds, especially narcotics cause
itching that really isn't there. Check into that. Best to you. Patricia

My answer is different from the others here. I found out that I was
sensitive to the soap that I was told to use before and after the surgery.
It caused me to itch. Once I stopped using it, the itching stopped. It was
the antibacterial soap given to me by the Dr.. Check it out, too, it could
be your problem. Good luck.

I do have a lot of itching but I don't think it is the soap I use I have
changed that several times both detergent and body soap I just start
itching all over mostly the trunck of my body and maybe it could have
something to do with the haeling but i am post-op 6 months now

I am 10 weeks out. I am not on any pain meds, and I still have some
itching. I used hydro-cortizone and it helps. I was told no baths for 4
weeks after surgery, so ask before you do the aveno bath suggested by
someone. I think it has to do with healing, and weight loss in general. I
also got a perscription cream for the area "under" my belly.
Good luck!

Hello, I also had the "Itches" real bad all over my body &
especially on my hands, it was wierd. I asked my dr. & he said it was
due to the lack of vitamins that my body getting due to the RNY. It went
away by itself. I am really faithfull with taking my vitamins &
drinking my protein & water.
