Question:
Pain in my stomach and in lower back
I have pain on the right side of my incision. It seems to hurt most after I've eaten. Also, I'm having lower back pain. I don't understand why I really never had back pain before and now that I'm 50 pounds lighter, I have back pain. I'm 3 months post op... Can anyone help? — ebenitez510 (posted on February 3, 2007)

I am sorry you are not feeling well. I would definitely call the surgeon
to let jhim or her know what is going on. Do you still have you gall
bladder? If you do then it is something to check out. I hope all goes
well for you. Congrats on you weight loss!

Your body is probably just "re-adjusting" to your new
weight. It is common.

About 1 year out I had very bad pain that went through from my stomach to
my back. It turned out to be a strangulated hernia and I had emergency
surgery. I am not saying this is what you have but you really should call
the doctor just to be safe.

I too had back pain after losing weight. Turns out I had blown some disks
in my back. My fat had been acting as a doughnut around my middle and was
actually taking some of the pressure off of the spinal injury. When the
fat was gone, the pain became worse and worse. Check with your docs. This
is just my experience.

Please check with your doctor. Not sure about the pain near your incision,
but the back pain could indicate a number of issues, for example kidney
stones. Call your doctor today. Good luck!
