Question:
If I have always had big breast will i now lose them after surgery?

I mean my family has always had them, I am the only heavy one, but have had big breast since i was 12. Since they are thin and have them will mine stay after the weight loss?    — karalot3 (posted on January 21, 2007)

I WOULD SAY THAT IT DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU LOSE BUT IN MY CASE EVERYTHING WENT SOUTH AND NOT FOR THE GOOD (NOT A CMPLAINT). i'M NOW IN THE PROCESS OF RESEARCH FOR GETTING A FEW LEFTS DONE.

It depends a good deal on heredity and on your age. If you're young, it's possible your breasts will come through this experience relatively unscathed. But it's probably prudent to expect change. With weight loss of the magnitude one can expect with weight-loss surgery, most bosoms end up at least somewhat "deflated"--not just smaller, but lower. That's why plastic surgery is so popular around here. It's just tummies that need lifting afterward.

Oops--make that, it's NOT just tummies that need lifting afterward. Is the weight-loss surgery still worth it? Yes.

Here's the easiest way I know to answer. I had my surgery just a little over a year ago when I was 26. I have lost 140 pounds. I went from a 44D to what I am currently at...a 36B. I was astonished each time I went down a size!

I, too..always had big breasts, even when I was not that heavy... but...after the surgery, my breasts have gone from a 42C to a 36B. I have lost 102 pounds thus far, and only have five more pounds to get to my personal goal of 140! Not only are my breasts smaller, but they look like someone put a hole in them, deflating them! There is extra skin there too, as well as everywhere else on my body! Better to be droopy than to be unhealthy! :)

I have to say, I was probably the largest breasted of those who have answered to date- I was a 46 II before surgery, now closer to a 34 DD (sometimes D, sometimes DDD depending on manufacturer). I am not sure how much of that is skin, as opposed to actual breast. Still, even though I sag much more than I would like (haven't had plastic yet), I wouldn't change it for the world. ESPECIALLY because I don't get the back strain, neck pain and migraines that I used to have before nearly as often.

It is all individual. I have always been busty, even when I was normal weight. I did lose lots in my bust, but am still proportionally busty (I am only 5'1".). They are a little less frim because of the extra skin, but not so bad a my niece's, and she is half my age! We both had the surgery.
