Question:
After wls has anybody have a baby and gain alot of weight back
I'm about to have wls next month. I'm excited and nervous. One problem I have with being over weight is not able to have children. My doctor thinks once I lose alot of weight, I should be able to have children. Has anyone have children after surgery and gain alot of weight back? — barfiep01 (posted on December 12, 2006)

Hi Patricia,
There is a forum on here for pregnancy after WLS that should help you.
Also, I know many people at work that got pregnant after surgery and they
do not gain a lot of weight. One girl had twins about 7 weeks ago and she
is now back down to her goal weight, she didnt even gain 20 pounds during
pregnancy. Of course, your baby's health would be most important as well as
making sure you are maintaining your nutrition and vitamins, etc. most
often, it is advised to wait 12 months-18 months after WLS to get pregnant
but after that, very successful pregnancies can and do happen.

I got pregnant 6 weeks after my WLS and I lost 80lbs the first 4 months of
my pregnancy then I gained 22lbs the last 3months and lost all of that
within 2 weeks of giving birth. Read my profile for all the details. After
that I lost about another 50lbs and now average 127-130lbs. I had my
surgery 7/14/03. Good luck to you on the WLS and getting prego.
