Question:
why iam loseing my hair at 15 mo

at three mo i was loing alot of hair then it stop now at 15 mo i am loing some more hair i wood like to know why?    — prettywormen (posted on November 20, 2006)

Hi sweety, make sure you are drinking your protein still. This very thing has happened to me and at 3 years out I am still losing a little at a time. I believe it has to do with both the kind of surgery we had PLUS Anesthesia. If I could, I would wear "pigtails" but unfortunately guys dont look good wearing them.....LOL Big Hugs Mickey Craig

Hi Ila, I lost half my hair starting at about 3 to 4 mths out, then it seemed like forever for it to grow back, then when i was around a year and a half I started losing some again and I figured it was because I wasn't getting in enough protein. When I upped my protein (which I drink shakes to ensure that I get enough) I stopped losing my hair. So whenever I notice that it is happening again, I make sure that I am drinking at least one 30g protein shake a day, in addition to the food I consume. I had the lap/rny gb, I have lost about 168-170lbs. I am very happy. Good luck and remember, protein, protein, protein. Lisa Hackenburg

I would say to write down everything you eat for a week, and make sure you are getting your 65 grams of protein per day. If you aren't, then maybe you need to discuss it with your dr. I know in my program in Denver (Dr. Snyder), they stress over and over again how important it is that you eat at least 65 grams of protein a day to stay healthy. Also, may want to look into taking a Biotin supplement. In my program, we start that at about the 3 month mark. Just some ideas.

I am so scared this is going to happen to me. I know i'm not getting in all the protein b/c i can't eat much and i haven't found one protein drink i can tolerate. What is a biotin supplement. I need to find an alternative to drinking the protein so i don't have the adverse side effects. Everyone says Hanks is great. Well it ISN"T to me. HELP
