Hi, I really don't have any business to try and give you any advise
considering I am preop. But, I have read other people have been drinking
slimfast, boost, and other meal replacements for nutrition. You may want to
check with your Dr first though, not sure if it has all the
protein/nutrients you need. Best of Luck.

i know it's hard and I had the same struggles to, but you have to keep
trying different things. Try blending a banana in with your chocolate or
vanilla powder, add a little splenda to kick that taste and some vanilla
extract oh and don't forget the ice. Right now, i'm drinking the tropical
coller from nectar, it's a little to sweet for my liking but i can tolerate
it. Also, i like the slim fast low carb with LOTS of ice to make it really
cold.
Good luck it gets easier, i promise

Ok, use whey protein, not soy, it dissolves better. I take a cup of Light
Soy Milk (Light Silk), a scoop of protein powder, 2 ice cubes and 1/2 of a
banana and put it in the blender, it is pretty good. I buy Strawberry
flavored portein powder. Also, try chocolate protein powder, Light Silk,
and a few frozen strawberries (Not the kind in syrup!), sometimes I throw
in a few pieces of frozen pineapple (again, not the kind in syrup!) put in
the blender, tastes like a milkshake. I buy Chocolate, Strawberry, and
Vanilla protein powder (Whey not Soy!) and change it up every few days so I
don't get sick of drinking just one flavor. Although the soy protein powder
has more protein then the whey powder, I find the whey dissolves with no
grit! Try it, you may like it!

I'm lactose intolerant and can't do milk - I got the Designer Whey Protein
powder and mixed it with water .. not the best tasting stuff in the world,
but if I made it ICE COLD I could sip on 48 ounces throughout the day ....

Hi Ivelisse
I am wondering which brands you have tried, and what have you mixed them
with?
That info might help posters give you suggestions.
Kind regards
Jerome

I had trouble getting in my protein the first few weeks also. But I'm about
4 months post-op, so it is getting easier. Keep experimenting with protein
powders and drinks until you find one that you like.
I liked the Unjury powder because it didn't seem to have an aftertaste and
it wasn't gritty like some of the other powders. My favorite drink is sugar
free hot chocolate mixed with Chocolate Unjury powder. I started drinking
this in the morning instead of my usual coffee.

I too had issues and you have to keep trying. One of the things I did was
switch to 2% milk for the fat, protein and calcium. Even though the
nutritionist had issues with it the doctor said anything was better than
nothing. I had issues with smells and tastes but after about 3 weeks it
went away and things got better. I am a year post op and down 130 lbs.
with no issues with my blood samples. I now can take the Whey protein
powder and protein bars. I have to watch with the protein bars that they
have limited sugar alcohols.

I had the same problem after surgery and ended up going back to the stuff
that I was using preop, Spirutein. I gave away all the samples I had gotten
and gave up on them. I use Spirutein Vanilla, making it with 4 oz milk and
a half scoop and use my magic bullet to mix it with ice and then add a bit
of flavored syrup into it for a change. I also LOVE the Strawberry
Spirutein! You can get them at any health food store and can get sample
packs to try. I have only had one flavor I don't like and that was
blueberry.
Good luck and hope they help.

First off at 2 wekks you shoul donly be eating pureed foods at
this point. Do no try to eat real processed food yet. It is too early.
Second work on things like refried beans with cheese
Scrambled eggs with cheese. Work on eating protein based foods, work on
shakes later. My doc did not believe in shakes so I did not even drink them
till I got a year out. You can get your protein from food, it does not have
to be shakes. If you are trying real food make sure you chew chew chew your
food
very well before trying to swallow it. You shuldd not be eatimg more than 2
or 3 oz. of anything this early. Work on what you can eat & drinking
water & i promise it will get better. Any paid goes away about 3 weeks
You should get a
burst of energy anyday. Good luck & welcome to the losing side. You
will not regret it

I could not find a protein that tasted good. I finally got Isopure Dutch
Chocolate. It does not taste good,l but I can choke it down. It gives
lots of protein! You could also consider taking GNC's liquid protein.
three tablespoons gives you 18 grams of protien, and you might be able to
get it down because it is only a small amount. You just have to be adult
and do it! I was told not to drink things like Slim Fast.

I couldn't find a protein drink that I could stomach either. I just tried
to eat foods with as much protein in them as possable and didn't eat
anything that didn't have at least some protein. I did really well that
way. Good luck

I tried a lot of liquid protien supplements before surgery. The only one
that appealed to me was Isopure, clear liquid in the bottle from my local
vitamin shope. They have some new flavors. I LOVE the Pinneaple, Orange,
Banana and the Mango Peach. It has 40 gm of protien per bottle and it goes
down REAL easy! I'm only a week out.

I am pre op (5 more days!) but I have been experimenting with Whey Protein
mix from GNC. Found that I like the chocolate mixed in a blender with 1%
milk, 4 ice cubes, and a few drops of coconut extract and a few drops
almond extract. Reminds me of an Almond Joy! The Banana flavor is also
good with coconut extract. Making them like a smoothie is most tolerable
for me.

Hey, I know where you are coming from!!! I am 6 days post op and I hate the
protein.... I just freeze 1 banana, and 3 strawberries, put them in the
blender with 2 scoops of protein powder,1 packet of splenda, and 1 to 1 and
a half cup of either milk or applejuice. Yummy... Well not yummy, but best
