I never went to Fitness Lady but I loved Curves. I loved that they knew my
name when I walked in the door, they weight and measure you once a month
and they are very dedicated to their members. Also, if you didnt feel like
you got a good workout from the circuit you could ask them for suggestions
on how to get a better workout.

I have joined Curves twice (each time was a year long). I really wouldn't
recommend Curves, I barely EVER even broke out in a sweat. I never got good
results there. I have never heard of Fitness Lady, but I do belong to a
place called FitZone For Women. I LOVE IT!! It is 1000 times better than
Curves. They have machines, treadmills, eliptacal, bikes, and they have
different classes you can take for free like: kickboxing, weight lifting,
aerboics, yoga, ball blast, etc.. So I would look it up and see if they
have one in your area www.fitzoneforwomen.com and you can work at your own
place, and it cost the extact same as Curves. $29 a month. Good luck in
your choice!

Penny,
Selecting a gym should be based on what you want to accomplish -- body
wise. I understand that some women like to workout in women's only
facilities. I've never heard of fitness lady. I was a member of Curves
for about a year, however, because I was a police officer and an athlete
and used to working with weights, it didn't work for me. Yes, the
exercises help get you physically fit cardiac wise, I felt it took longer
to loose weight. That's just me. So I've gone back to the regular type
gym. We have a work out facility in our apartment complex that is truly up
to date. Treadmills, seated biked, an eliptical machine (which will help
you get you cardiac up and loose weight too), dumbells, and a universal
weight machine. So I work out there. Like I said in the beginning, it's
all about what you want to accomplish. Going someplace like Gold's Gym
doesn't mean you want to bulk up and obtain a lot of muscles. Here is a
suggestion, most gyms have those "try me for a week" promotions
and you can get those right off some clubs websites. Try out a few of
those that way before putting out a lot of money. One thing you want to
look for is how helpful will the training staff be in assisting you in
reaching your goals. Persoanlly, if I was looking to join a gym, it would
be Golds -- that's mainly because of the equipment they have. In my
experience, I very seldom had to wait for a machine.
Good Luck

I don't think that any particular gym is better than another. What matters
most is where YOU feel most comfortable! Also, you may want to go to a gym
that is closest to your home or office ... So this is a really personal
choice. Most gyms will let you try it out for free, so take them up on the
offer!

It is always important for you to visit and compair what works best for
you...
Myself being a personal trainer and coach for welness, it is important that
you feel GOOD about where you are.
From making my rounds with my 200 pound weight loss and discovering gyms
and many clubs... I learned that I had to make me happy..
Exercise is a Tool and when we get there we do not need to feel that
"GOODNESS>>>I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET OUT OF HERE" you
should have the attitude while working out, time is flying... This is part
of the journey... GET YOUR HEALTH BACK!
It is very crutial that you find your journey and that you make it as fun
as possible.
Remember we all had tummy surgery NOT brain surgery!
Find your "WHY" search for a goal and go get it!!!
Lots of luck finding a gym that FITS you!

hello. i don't know too much about either of those facilities. however, i
had an interview at curves once and i observed their routine and i didn't
care for it. every 30 seconds they switch to a new machine. by the time
the ladies got off of one machine, walked over and got onto the other
machine... they had about 10-15 seconds of workout. i suppose it works for
some, but hearing the speaker say, "move to next station" every
30 seconds would be Way too annoying for me.

I joined curves and love it. I always feel like I worked hard when I went
there and they staff and so friendly and supportive. Though it is only a
30 minute workout, I have seen many results.

I joined CURVES 2 years ago and have had great results with the firming and
toning that is important after surgery. The members and staff have been
super supportive of me during this adventure.
You can only get out of a workout routine what you put into it. It is up
to YOU!!!!!! Debi (150)

CURVES!!! It's the BEST place to start. It's the best core workout you can
do. You still have to walk on days you don't do Curves. We have to make
sure we do something every day, but to firm and tone there's nothing as
good for most women who are intimidated by traditional gyms. It's not for
the body-builder, but most of us here don't fit into that category :)
There's a special starting in July for the rest of the summer free or
there's a coupon in the current Avon catalog for $100 off. You will love
that they are friendly and caring and non-judgemental, just supportive.
Each club is individually owned so sometimes you might not mesh with the
employees, but you can then transfer to one that fits your personality
better.

I don't know much about either of them, but if I were choosing a gym, I
think I would consider cost, but mostly which one is closest to home. If
it's not convenient to get to, I would stop going after awhile. Starting
to exercise on a regular basis is difficult for many of us, we need to make
it as convenient as possible otherwise the excuses start (for me they begin
sometime in November, as soon as the weather gets cold).

hi PENNY! Listen very carefully: YOU NEED BOTH WEIGHTS AND EXERCISE. If
you read my profile- I tell you MANY MANY TIMES,
the weights help to raise your metabolism and the exercise increases your
cardio..when combined together= 100% fat loss and NO MUSCLE LOSS.. That
being said- I RECOMMEND: BALLYS - GOLDS GYM OR NYSPC... With what they
charge at Curves- join GOLDS- and get 3 lessons with a Personal Trainer-
FREE. I joined Ballys 3 yrs ago- and I love that post workout- I get a
sauna, go swimming & get in the hottub- something none of the others
offer- and you are paying the same $$. get the most bang for your buck.

I found Curves not challenging enough. I like a regular gym, if you can
find one that caters to women and is not just a male jock place.
