Question:
Has anyone used Dr. Titus Duncan?
I am going to be using Dr. Duncan for my lap band surgery. I have to go to a manditory siminar on Mar. 21st and then they said I had to fill out the paperwork to send in and once they have that they will start the process. But I don't know what that process is. Does anyone know how long it will take for me to be scheduled for my surgery? I have United Healthcare and they said it is covered after my deductible is covered and they said I do not have to have a referrel from my PCP. Can anyone answer my questions? Thanks, Catina — electricj (posted on March 9, 2006)

Dr. Larry Hobson was the surgeon that actually performed my LAP
RNY(12/22/05), but I have also seen Dr. Duncan. Personally I has BCBS of
GA and did have to have a referral from my PCP. I went to the
seminar....completed the package that they give you at the meeting and
turned it into the appropriate people at the Wellness Center. All of this
will be discussed at the seminar. Once they have your packet it takes
several weeks before you hear anything. In this time they are checking
with your insurance company...just to be sure the surgery is truly covered.
Once you hear from the doctor's office they will schedule your first
appointment. This is where my experience differs from yours...for the RNY
there are several clearances that are necessary from various other doctors.
I already had those clearances because I originally started my journey
with another surgeon's office and switched to Peachtree Surgical in the
middle of the process. At the seminar..ask questions. Everyone is very
nice and Dr. Duncan is funny.
