Hi. I had an umbilical repair on February 27th that required a goretex mesh
panel. Then on May 17th I had a lap RNY with no complications. My bariatric
surgeon was very pleased with the job my surgeon had done on my hernia
repair. He originally told me that he would try to do the procedure lap but
if he had a problem due to adhesions or whatever, he may have to convert to
an open procedure. I guess it depends a lot on the experience of your
surgeon and the job your hernia repair surgeon did. But I am proof that it
is possible to have a hernia repair with goretex mesh panel and still have
an uneventful lap RNY.

I have a good friend who was in your situation - it gave the doc a chance
to see that there had been a problem in healing with the old repair, and
was able to fix it at that point. Definitely for the best that she was in
there.
