Question:
STAYING SICK WITH COLDS AND FLU
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED STAYING SICK WITH A COLD, FLU AND EVERYTHING ELSE SINCE SURGERY? IT SEEMS LIKE I GET SOMETHING, GET TREATED FOR IT AND THEN GET BETTER BUT WITHEND A COUPLE OF DAYS I AM SICK AGAIN. HAS ANYONE ELSE DONE THIS? — CHRISTY F. (posted on December 11, 2003)

I'm going thru the same thing with colds. I've had this one for at least four
weeks. It gets better then worse then better then worse. Right now it's
worse. I'm trying to make sure I get all my vitamins, good nutrition,
etc., so I don't think it's immune system. It seems though that almost
everyone is my work group has been going thru the same thing and they
haven't had the surgery so maybe it's just a persistent bug. I'm seeing the
doctor tomorrow though just in case.

I've never been healthier since wls. However, once I worked in a "sick
building" chronic sickness should be investigated for sure. Some homes
have chemicals that also make people ill. Just a thought. Good Luck!

Have you considered maybe you are suffering from allergies? It is quite
common after stress..pregnancy, long illness, tragedy that your body can
react against you. I suddenly developed allergy problems after my second
child was born by C-section. Just something else to consider. I am sorry
to hear that you have been so sick. Take care.

I seem to get way more colds that
linger on and on this year at 11 months post op as opposed to last year. I
have not even been able to get my flu shot because I am never all better. I
just wash my hands a lot and don't kiss anyone on the lips. I keep
antibacterial wipes with me all the time and wipe down shopping carts, etc.
before I use them.

I have to agree with those that are healthier and sick less often. I eat
much healthier foods and take my Vital Nutrient vitamins and WOW I feel
great 90% of the time. It's nice especially since I'd have normally been
fighting off bronchitis by now.
