I have BCBS of MN through my work. The only problem I had with getting
approved was that after my doctor sent the first letter, they needed more
information. After my doctor sent more information I was approved with in
two weeks.

BC/BS is the insurance company, however there are many different policies
that your company can buy. Some buy cheap policies that exclude wls. Your
best bet is to call your insurance company and ask about your own policy.
There is also a MN group of wls called ossgmn.com where we all are from MN.
You might get more info on MN info there. Good Luck!

I have BC/BS Choice, and was approved in a day or two, having a BMI of 42
and few other health problems. Like the previous poster said though, I
would call and ask if your policy covers WLS, the Dr. you are wanting to
use, and the Hosp. he practices at, and what the general 'requirements'
are. I was told that my policy covered it as long as it was 'medically
necessary'...which is almost always the case if you meet the BMI criteria
and have any other health issues. Good luck!

wonderful My drs office sent in the paperwork and they sent us a letter
saying that they needed more info, We got the additional info they needed
and faxed it to them on 6-11-03 and they approved me the same day. Good
