Question:
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF A TUMMY TUCK CAN BE DONE THE SAME TIME AS THE WLS?
I HAVE HAD TWO C-SECTIONS AND NOW I HAVE MY LOWER STOMACH THAT HANGS, I THINK MY DOCTOR OFFERS THE TUMMY TUCK WITH THE SURGERY. NOT SURE. — Rose Morello-Schechter (posted on August 11, 2002)

I have only heard of 1 doctor that will do a TT with WLS, as most feel,
that if you have more than 100 pounds to lose if you had a TT with the WLS,
in a year to 18 months, you may require another one.

I read something about this but I do not remember where. I also have had a
C-section as well as having my apendix out (sp) when I was a kid. Back
when the scar was a good 4 inches. After all these years and all this
weight I have a deep crease there. Still, I don't think I would want the
added pain of a TT and the added pain of the muscles being pulled at the
same time I was recovering from WLS. Further, I agree with the last post, I
would be sure I would need another 100 pounds from now, as I know my body
tends to develope the apron. Good luck to you. If you do the TT & WLS
at the same time, please let us know. I would be interested how that turns
out.

My surgeon would offer to do the tummy tuck at the same time of surgery for
4000.00 out of pocket. I know quite a few people elected to do it that way.
However I did not and I waited and had my insurance cover it 10 months
later. By the way my surgeon is no longer in private practice.

Yes, this is possible. I had a tummy tuck at the same time as my WLS. I
had about 96lbs to lose, I am down 60 now. I dont regret getting it done
at the same time. If I had not done the TT at the same time, I probably
would have never gotten it done, I would not want to go back under the
knife. I preferred getting it done all in 1 shot.
