Question:
anyone have low blood gas results....
HAS ANYONE HAD SURGERY THAT HAD LOW BLOOD GASES RESULTS? MY DOCTOR TOLD ME TO QUIT SMOKING, I AM GOING ON 3 MONTHS AS A NON SMOKER, AND HE SAID MY BLOOD GASES NOW ARE WORST THAN THE FIRST ONES, AND THAT HE WILL NOT DO SURGERY ON ME AT ALL, BECAUSE I AM HIGH RISK. — Gale G. (posted on May 28, 2002)

Well, the anesthesiologist said my blood gas results weren't great and had
respiratory give me a treatment before the surgery, but when he saw me
after that he indicated I was a lot healthier than the gas results
indicated. If your blood gas results have gone down AFTER quitting smoking
I would get a referral to a pulmonologist and find out what is going on. I
suspect that is what your surgeon is worried about although why he didn't
refer you, I'll never know. Good luck!
