Question:
what is the gastrograffin swallow

if anyone has had this, please write and let me know what all it entails.....i have had several upper gi's----not a problem....i do not really understand why we cant do this after surgery instead of a gastrograffin swallow-----can you tell i fear the unknown? thanks for answering    — PATRICIA H. dont worry the gastrografen swallow is the same as an upper gi except they give you gastrogafen to drink instead of the usual barium.

Dear Patricia, The gastrograffin UGI is nothing to fear.. The gastrograffin is a clear amber looking , but vile tasting liquid contrast that you will drink..... The adverse side effect of gastrograffin for me is that it gives me diarrhea for the next 12 or so hours..I hope your test goes well Take care
