Question:
Why am I not eating enough?
Hi, I'm 4 months post-op and have lost now 85 lbs( started at 300)The weight is still comming off at about 4-5 lbs a week. Is that normal? I knowI don't eat what Ive been told to eat calorie wise. I get *maybe* on a good day 7-800 calories but most days its more like 600.I don't understand why thats considered too little, the pint is to lose and keep losing, right? anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you solve it? — Jenee B. (posted on November 9, 2001)

At 3.5 months I dont come close to eating enough and finally decided to
quit worrying about it. Loosing well, feeling great and trying to get
enough protein are my goals. I will get bloodwork again soon to make sure I
am ok, just to be safe.

When I went back for one week check up... Doc.. said most pleople lose a
pound a day.. in first weeks.. the heaver you are the faster you lose.. a
good rule of thumb... less than a pound a day in first weeks.. you may be
drinking juice , and things high in suger... try to drink water.. or mix
half water half juice.More than a pound aday-- YOU are NOT eating enough...
( He want no-more than a pound a day- in first weeks) I started at 285--- 6
weeks latter down 35 #
I feel great!!!! and Love this tinny tummy that lets me eat a little and
fill full.

At my four week check-up, I had lost 45 pounds. I was, of course,
thrilled, but also a little worried. I asked my surgeon if I was losing
too much too fast, and he said no...as long as I'm getting in enough
protein and taking all my vitamins, I was doing fine. He said that I was
losing weight steadily, too, and that's very important. My first two weeks
I lost 12 lb., third week I lost 18 lb. and the fourth week I lost 15 lb.
He said that's good and steady, and that I was doing fine. However, if I
lost 5 lb. one week, then 15 the next, then 2 the week after that, THEN I
should be concerned.
