I was on the pill prior and surgery and I still am. I brought them with me
to the hospital, but didn't take one until 5 days post op, I wish I had
sooner because with an open porcedure the last thing I needed was
breakthrough bleeding, but guess what? I GOT IT! Ask your Doctor when you
can take it after surgery. I had a cycle the week prior to surgery, but
still had the bleeding. I wish you the best of luck, please take care of
yourself.

My doctor told me to go off it at least four weeks before surgery. After
surgery he said I could start taking it again it but I am considering
switching to depo provera. Not sure yet though.

My doctor said that it wasn't necessary for me to go off the pill, but I
had heard so many others saying that they had to go off because of the risk
of blood clots, I decided to go off of them anyway. I went off of the 4
weeks before surgery and restarted about 4 weeks after. I just wanted to
be on the safe side.

I stayed on the pill the entire time. When I was in the hospital, they
crushed the pill, mixed with with water and put in in my tube. I had no
problems.

I guess it really depends on how worried you are about blood clots. I got
off of it 1 month prior to my surgery and waited a month after to get back
on. But that was my personal preference.
