Question:
If My Rny is unsuccessful--What else can I do or try?
I HAD A VBG SIX YEARS AGO-FOUND OUT THERE WAS A DISRUPTION WHEN THE SURGEON WENT IN TO DO A REVISIONAL RNY ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO......I HAVE BEEN ON A PLATEAU FOR A LONG TIME, AND AM STILL DOUBLE MY IDEAL WEIGHT....WHAT CAN I DO...WHO CAN I TALK WITH...ARE THERE DRS TO PERFORM ANOTHER REVISION....THEY CANT FIND ANY "MEDICAL" REASON RELATING TO THE SURGERY WHY I HAVE NOT LOST MORE WEIGHT. — [Anonymous] (posted on September 13, 2001)

At my 6 month checkup, I asked my surgeon a "what if" question. I
was just curious as to what could be done if I were to gain my weight back.
He said there were three "adjustments" that could be done. He
could bypass more intestine, tighten the stoma (to delay emptying), and
make the pouch smaller. Maybe you could benefit from 1 or more of these
procedures. If you can't get any satisfactory answers from your original
surgeon, then I would definitely seek a 2nd or 3rd opinion. Good Luck!!
